Motion duly made by Councilman Beck these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Smith and by vote CARRIED. RESOLUTIONS None ... II 'I l.., j.. '-' ...., \.,J CRDINANCES Council decided to leave tabled the ordinance prohibiting the speed of trains ldthin the corporate limits of the City of Edgewater greater than 25 miles per hour, as negotiations with the Florida East Coast Railway have not been completed. OLD BUSINESS Attorney Chisholm reported that he had talked ldth a Florida East Coast Rail~y official and he had suggested that the City contact Herb Tuell of the Armco Pipe Company of Jacksonville about the work on the culvert, as the Railroad does not do the work, only supervises it. The Attorney was instructed to phone Armco Pipe Company to get a price. Councilman Smith again brought up the subject of investing surplus money. Motion was duly made by Councilman Seng that Mayor Shaeffer investigate an instant withdrawal investment, seconded by Councilman Beck and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Beck Councilman Seng Councilman Smith Councilman Armstrong Mayor Shaeffer Yea Yea Yea Yea Yea NEW BUSINESS Mayor Shaeffer stated that some money would be spent on paving streets, mentioned Palmway, Hardin Place and Virginia A venue that could be done by the City, and Indian River Boulevard by the County. Councilman Seng suggested that Marion Avenue be considered. Councilman Smith protested that older City streets should be taken care of in preference to Indian River Boulevard, stating that the Mayor had no right selecting Indian River Boulevard. Councilman Beck admitted that he did not know much about Indian River Boulevard; it was explained to him that it is the main artery leading into Florida Shores from the Highway, a feeder artery leading to all the other streets within the development. Councilman Beck stated that streets that have the most use should be taken care of first. John Grafton spoke up for Indian River Boulevard, mentioning that there is more building going on in Florida Shores than the rest of Edgewater., as well as New S~ Beach. Councilman Amstrong spoke of the high percentage of building, electric and plumbing permits taken out for houses built in Florida Shores. After much discussion, it was decided to drop the subject of street selection until the City is ready to go ahead on the Street work. Mayor Shaeffer asked if anyone had anything to say. Councilman Smith criticised the Mayor for having given Chief Norman permission to work at the dog track last season without asking the Council t s approval, mentioning that Police Chief Norman had been absent two Council meetings. Councilman Smith also brought up the subject of City checks being signed by the Mayor before bills are approved by the Council. Councilman Beck protested about the noise in the Community Center while Council is having a meeting. Mayor Shaeffer said he would take care of this matter. Mrs. Murton reported that the Highway approach to Snyder Street needed to be filled in. Mayor Shaeffer told Mr. Shippee to see that this is taken care of.
