A letter was read from Stanley A. Seng, Sr., Councilman in Second District asking to be excused from Council Meeting on August 20, 1962 because of a nose operation he must have. Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that we give $35.00 to Fire Chief Fred Garlick to cover his expenses, seconded by Councilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED. A Western UnJ~ion Telegram was read from }fugnuson Properties requesting canals cleaned, streets dragged and boulevard crossovers paved as soon as possible in Florida Shores. I haven't been able to get the materials from the County. They promised they would do it when the weather r~rmits. That is the reason they haven't been done. But as soon as the weather permits us to get the materials we will put in the crossovers. 'He have a man to drag the streets, but He are no,,! shorthanded. vIe have one of our men on vacation for two weeks. We have water lines to extend and .'Ie can't furnish these men on the street s . He keep a man on the streets as much as we can. Communications were read from the Florida . 'orcs Property O1mers Association dated May 31, 1962 and July 26, 1962. They sta~cd in brief ..mat the people in Florida Shores want done in the subdivision for the coming year concerning thi.'~s such as streets, Hater lines, lot cleaning, and warning light on ildian River Boulevard at the ,}ail Road Crossing. Councilman Pa1ro~teer stated that if the' Florida Shores Subdivision was willing to do the same as the Silver Ridge Subdivision concerning the extending of water lines, the city would be very glad to do so. Edgewater Acres had a similar thing done as was done in Silver Ridge. }IT. Blauvelt, Predident of the Florida Shores Property ~mers Association, asked if the City would spend five or six thousand dollars in Florida Shores this year. Councilman Palmateer stated that the City had not paid that much in Silver Ridge. }IT. Blauvelt asked how much it cost the city to extend the water lines from the end of the limits of Edgewater to the beginning of the Si~ver ridge Subdivision. , . '-' v u u Councilman Kennedy said the City had paid about ~2,250 to do that. Councilman Kennedy stated that the only t~~ he saw the letters from Florida Shores Property Owners Association was Friday night and that was because he asked for them and we needed thm for the budget. ~tr. 1~ell asked why the letter from the American Legion was not read. Hayor Hussey stated that the letter asked about-the light on Park Avenue and he said he was doing all he could to get one. Hr. Hosher stated that in Oak Hill there is a light and the~is hardly any traffic at all. ~~yor Hussey said that he would have our attorney check into this. Nat Bro,m stated that the conduits for the light on Park Avenue has been laid and all provisions are made. Councilman Kennedy stated that the railroad was supposed to come and contact us about this light on the railroad. l1ayor Hussey said he will contact the~ about this. ORDINANCES None RESOWTIONS None OLD BUSINESS The letter from Robert Koren of Utica Bar, which was tabled a few weeks previous to this meeting, was read. 110tion duly made by Councilman Siller that '\'Ie amend our ordinance with regards to the hours that bars in the City of Edgewater may remain open, seconded by Councilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED. Dana Armstrong questioned the motion made to eA~end the hours that the bars can be open, since they can be open nOl'/" as long as they want as long as they don't sell alcoholic beverages. ~~s. Grayson asked if there had been a report from the Park and Pier Committee. Councilr.an Kennedy said he had spoken to John Grafton about thediving board. He said he thought it '\'Iould be better to '\'Iait until next year since school is starting so soon. /"" . v ~ () v 11rs. Grayson stated that 11r. 11ay had offered the wood for the diving board which would be weighed dovm by cement blocks. She said that the present diving board has split. Nat Brown said that the children will be around on the weekends all year and why not put in the diving board right now. Councilman Kennedy said that he vnll ask l1r. Grafton to put it up tomorrow. Nat Brovm said that he would give the materials for the board. t~. Ketchum asked about the water he believed to be contaminated. }~. John Deibler, Police Chief of the City of Edgewater, stated that he callee the Board of Health and the report was favorable. They stated that the water was not polluted. ttr. Blauvelt asked what was going to be done on the letters about lot cleaning. }trs. Of Connell, City Clerk, stated that no action has been taken because we have to be very careful before putting a lien on someones property. She stated that she is very busy .'Ii th the lei cleaning and that there are many letters that have already come.~n concerning lot cleaning. ~~. Blauvelt stated that on Page #4 of the Sewer Report there seems to be an indication that there is some kind of an arrangement between the City and the Silver Ridge Subdivision to buy back their system after a short time. I wonder if such a contract is in existence and if it has been made public. V~yor Hussey said that it has not been made public but when the Sewer System is p1 t in it vnll come back to the City. }~. Blauvelt said that then I understand that there is some kind of an arrangement between Silver Ridge and City of Edgewater. Councilman Siller seconded the motion to recess, and by vote CARRIED.
