CONTINUED MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, HELD

The Continued Meeting of the City Council of the City of
Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor A. Hussey,
July 2Jrd, 1962 at 7:JO P.M.

The purpose of the meeting is to accept bids for the extension
of water lines to the Silver Ridge Subdivision.
Bids were read from the following companies:
1. Johns-Manville
2. Joseph W. Boyd, Daytona Beach
J. Davis Meter and Supply of Orlando
4. Moo~e Utility Supply Co., Jacksonville, Florida
Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that we accept the
bid from Johns-Manville as recommended by Briley, Wild & Associates,
our engineers, seconded by Councilman Siller.
Councilman Siller: Me stated that Moore Utilities price per
unit is lower, however, I do believe it is a foreign manufacture
and I believe we have a clause to use domestic type pipe; that
is why we didn't accept the lower bid.
Mr. J. Dillard from Briley, Wild & Associates stated that they
do not recommend foreign pipe.
Councilman Kennedy asked why the bids for valve fittings were
rejected by the engineers.
Mr. Dillard stated that they did not have enough funformation on
the fittings and some of them would not be suitable. Roll call
on motion being as follows:

Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that we re-advertise
for bids for valve fittings for the extension of water lines to
Silver Ridge Subdivision.

Mr. Dillard stated that he didn't know whether to consider
bid from Davis Meter & Supply of Oftando because the bid was
phoned in.
Mr. Lauramore stated that at the previous meeting the City
Clerk read the bid from Davis Meter and the Mayor asked a
number gfl times if there were any objections and no one
spoke up.
There was a representative from every company except Davis
Meter & Supply.
Attorney Clark: If no one had any objections I would say
the companies waived their right to protest.
The City Clerk asked if the council had changed its stand
from Wednesday afternoon when they had allowed the bid from
Davis Meter to be read since they were sending a letter of
verificatllion and the bid was phoned in before the deadline.
Councilman Palmateer: I withdraw my previous motion

Mr. John Grafton asked if the Council wanted to make
a motion to accept added coverage on their insurance policy
which would be about six or eight dollars a year. It
would cover laying of pipe and other work done by the City.
Motion duly made by Councilman Siller to accept the
added insurance. Councilman Kennedy had some questions
regarding the insurance. Mr. Grafton said that it would
cover such things as a digger undermining some.nes home,
etc. Motion seconded by Councilman Kennedy and by vote
CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

There being no further business motion duly made by Councilman
Siller that we now adjo~n, seconded by Councilman Palmateer
