REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEV-IATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA, HELD APRIL 2, 1962.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
was called to order by Councilman Stanley A. Seng, Acting as Hayor in the
absence of l1ayor Hussey at 7:30 P.M. April 2nd, 1962.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held March 19th were presented to each
Councilman for his approval. Motion duly made by Councilman Siller these
minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Palmateer
and by vote CARRIED.

C ONMUNI CATIONS
A letter was read from }fr. John W. Carter concerning the Little League
Baseball Field.
A letter was read from Mr. William H. Cairnie of the American Legion
concerning improvements that need to be made on the Little League
Baseball Field.
OFFICERS REPORT
The Building Inspectors Report for the month of March was read.
Acting Mayor Seng said in respect to the letter from Mr. Carter that
a good job had been done on the ball park. He said that there was
money available for the Little League in the Recreation Fund. There
will be $1,200 for the rest of the year. Acting Mayor Seng asked
how much would be needed to complete the work. 1-1r. Carter said

they would need approximately $300 to p,et some of the \-fork done. He
stated some of their needs, such as lights in the ball park and the
money to send the boys to the State Tournament.
Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that we contribute $300 to
be used for fixing up the Little League Ball Park, seconded by
Councilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as

RESOLUTIONS
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING STANLEY A. SENG, SR., AS ACTING MAYOR OF THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA IN ABSENCE OF MAYOR AQUILLA HUSSEY.
The above resolution was read in full by Attorney Warren and motion
duly made by Councilman Kennedy this resolution be adopted, seconded
by Councilman Palmateer and passed by vote of the City Council of the
City of Edgewater, Florida at the regular meeting of the said Council

OLD BUSINESS
Councilman Palmateer stated that some time ago we had some property
given to the City from Florida Shores on Cocoa Palm Drive. Councilman
Palmateer said the City will accept the property provided that Florida
Shores pay the taxes. The taxes are due for this year and therefore
they are responsible for them, as deed was not recorded until December,1961.
Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that we discuss this matter
with Mr. Hoynahan, seconded by Councilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
PETITION TO INTERGRATE TERRITORY INTO THE CITY OF EDGffiolATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FLORIDA. THE SOUTIMEST ONE QUARTER OF THE NORTHEAST ONE
QUARTER AND 9.785 ACRES DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BEGINNING AT AN IRON
PIN ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE NORTHVlEST ONE QUARTER OF THE
NORTHEAST ONE QUARTER AND RUNNING WEST A DISTANCE OF 1320 FEET TO
A CORNER; THENCE NORTH A DISTANCE OF 83 FEET TO A CORNER; THENCE

RESOWTION
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING CERTAIN CONTIGUOUS LANDS INTO THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA, AND RESOLVING SAID LAND TO BE INCORPORATED INTO THE MUNICIPALITY
EFFECTIVE AS OF APRIL 3, 1962

Former Councilman Armstrong asked if the Council authorized the Mayor
and Acting Police Chief to use City Equipment for transportation to
Tallahassee. Acting 1-'Iayor Seng said tfyesn and that they were on
City business.

Mr. Carter asked if it could be possible to get the road straightened up
that goes to the ball park. He said that he had been doing it himself
but would like to have some help from the City. Acting Mayor Seng
said that he believes the City could get it graded.
Councilman Siller stated that the City has been asked to donate some
money to the School Patrol that is going to \^lashington. Since some of
the youth are from Edgewater, I feel the City should make a donation.
Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that we donate $225 to the
School Patrol that is going to Washington, second~ by Councilman
Kennedy and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:-

Acting Mayor Seng proclaimed the .first week in May "Clean Up vleek",
as requested by Fire Chief Garlick who said it is being observed
state wide.

adjourn, seconded by Councilman Kennedy, and by vote CARRIED.
