Mayor Hussey called this meeting for the purpose of discussing emploYing
another Police Officer.
Councilman Siller stated that he understood this meeting was called to
just discuss emploYing another Police Officer and make no decision.
Councilman Kennedy stated the applications had not been screened as yet
and therefore I move this meeting be adjourned until the next Regular
Council meeting. Councilman Kennedy also ask if it had been advertised
the City was looking for a Police Officer. Mayor Hussey stated not that
he knew of.
Councilman Siller ask if Acting Chief Deibler had given any of these
applicants an examination similar to Civil Service in Daytona Beach.
Mr. Deibler stated he had not. Councilman Seller then stated this was
agreed upon as we almost got in one mess by hireing a man who was not
qualified, so lets not make another mistake. I feel we should look into
the background of any applicant extensively.
Councilman Palmateer stated he thought this meeting was called for 7:00 P.M.
to go over these applications and the Special meeting would follow at 7:30
P.M. for the Public the same as our regular meeting nights. I believe we
should go over these applications in private and not discuss them publicly,
therefore, I second the motion now on the floor.
There being no further business Councilman Kennedy moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Palmateer and by vote CARRIED.
