......,
Meeting opened to.the public. Mrs. Gunther asked if anything had been
done about the road connecting Edgewater Acres and Florida Shores. She
was advised they were working on it.
Councilman Palmateer stated the City was in need of a place for Children
to play. If and when we get a school we can get State aid. Now is the
time for us to look for a place and purchase ground, if it is within
reason.
Mr. Smith stated he was very much concel'ned about the outstanding debt
on road paving. Most of the outstanding bills are against business men
and they should pay as well as the little felloW's. This is a large amount
of money and should be collected or action taken. I would like to know
what this council is doing to collect this money. Mayor Hussey stated
this comment is well taken and he would contact these people to see what
can be done.
Mr. Gunther: I think Mr. Smith is referring to me as a business man,
I ask the former Council if this was going to be a complete job, both
sides and island crossovers and I was assured it was and two feet
in on each street so it would not breakup when heavy trucks turned into
a. street.
Councilman'Seng: It is' understood this job willbe complete in March.
9 . ~ - Armstrong: Marion Avenue west of the Highway was not on the
paving agenda and we were asked to put this in to help the business
people. The 90 days for paymeht has come and gone. When sidewalks and
curb were put in the people were given five years to pay and they pay
the City 6% interest.
Discussion followed on kick back from County. Mr. ~mith stated we do not
get our share of kick back from the County. He-stated he knew of places
the County go in and pave the streets and here Mr. Saxon ~sk for $5000
from the City (If Edgewater toward the bridge over the Canal. Mr. Bro'IfD.
stated if more pressure was put on Mr. Saxon the City of Edgewqter could
get more. Mr. Smith stated the Road and Bridge Tax alone amounted to
around $30,000 t~n out of Edgewater and we certainly were entitled
to it being used here. Councilman Seng ask if Mr. Saxon could not be
contacted to come to a meeting for a question and answer period. Mayor
Hussey stated he would contact Mr. Saxon and try to get him to the next
Regular Meeting to be held February 5th and get his promises in writing.
If we work in the right way we can get what we want. I do not believe
in pushing anyone around, that gets you DO place.
Thero being no further business Councilman Seng moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Palmateer and by vote CIRRIED.
