REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGIEWATER, VOLUSIA
COUNTY, FIDRIDA, HELD DEC. 18th, 1961.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, held December 18th, 1961 was called to order by Mayor A.
Hussey at 7:30 P.M.

The minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 4th, and Special
Meetings held December 9th and December 15th were presented to each
CotUlcilman for his approval. Motion duly made by Councilman Seng these
minutes be accepted with corrections made on the Special Meeting held
December 9th, seconded by Co\.Ulcilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED.

AUDIT REPORT
Mr. Batten ot Genter & Batten, Certified Public Accomtants gave the
Audit Report tor the fiscal year ending October 31st, 1961.
Motion duly made by Comcilman Seng we accept the Audit Report as
presented, seconded by Councilman Palmateer and by vote CARRIED.
RESOLUTIONS
A RESOLUTION REAPPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE PARK AND PIER BOARD OF THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA.
The above and tore going Resolution was presented by Councilman Kennedy,
who moved its adoption, said motion being seconded by CounciJJnan Siller
and upon roll call vote, the said resolution was duly declared adopted
at the regular meeting ot said Comcil on the 18th day ot December, A.D.
1961. The vote ot said Comcil on said roll call being as follows:-

ORDINANCFS
AN ORDINANCE .AMENDING THE 'PRESENT EXISTING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, TO PERMIT THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31, 1961, AND TO FIX THE LEGAL HOURS FOR
'1HE SALE OF THE SAME OF SAID DAY.
The above Ordinance was read in tull by Attorney l'1arren and motion duly
made by Councilman Seng this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Comcilman
Kennedy and passed by vote ot the City Council ot the City ot Edgewater,
Florida, at the regular meeting ot said Council held on December 18th, 1961.

Upon motion duly made by Comcilman Seng, seconded by Oomcilmari Kennedy
and carried, the requirement ot reading said ordinance upon secorxl reading
was waived and the ordinance was ordered put upon tinal passage.

the regular meeting of said Council on the 18th day ot December, A.D. 1961
and approved as provided by law, the vote of said council on roll call being

Attoenry Warren stated the bid accepted on the Truck to be. purchased
could not include the $532.00 additional for 3 Speed Transmission. He
stated in his opinion the only way would be to call for new bids or see
if the additional cost could be brought down to below $500.00, as the
amendment to the Charter does not allow expenditures in excess ot $500
without competative bids.

Motion duly' made by COlIDcil:man Seng this issue be tabled until the man
can be contacted to see if he would come down on the price, seconded by
Councilman Palmateer and by vote CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
The Clerk read the Bids on 'iorkman' s Compensation and Comprehensive General
Liability Insurance. W. L. Robertson - $3,431.55, John Grafton $3,732.61
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF JOHN GRAFl'ON ASSOCIATFS FUR COMPREHENSIVE
INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND REJECTING ALL
OTHER BIns.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Warren and motion duly' made
by COWlcilman Palmateer this Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman
Siller and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewa.ter, Florida,
at the regular meeting of said Council held on December 18, 1961. Roll call
vote being as follows:-

Attorney 1'iarren stated he had checked over the Agreement between the City of
Edgewater and the City of New SJlijTIla Beach on Electric and he stated he did

not believe it conflicts, but caution should be taken and provide that the
Contract takes precedent qver Revenue Certificates in regard to the purchase
of the system. I do not believe the validation will affect the 'City contract
if this caution is taken. '

Motion by Councilman Siller, the Attorney appear on our behalf and request
Court to acknowledge the present contract between the City of Edgewatet and
the City of New Smyrna Beach, fSeconded by Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED.

It has been requested that a light be placed at the West end of ,Adele Street
in Edgewater Acres. Motion duly' made by Councilman Seng this ,light be
put in on Adele Street, seconded by Councilman Palmateer and by vote CARRIED.

The Clerk read the recommendations of the Park & Pier Conmdttee. This report
is attached to these minutes. Mr. Gratton stated since this report was sent
in they felt the Shuffleboard courts should be added along with the other
recomnendations and with a package deal they thought these courts should be
included now as that Intercity Tournaments could be held here.
Motion duly made by Councilman Seng we accept the recommendations of the Park
& Pier Conmittee and proceed with this work, seconded by Councilman Palmateer
and by vote CARRIED.
There being no further business Councilman Palmateer moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED.
