The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida,
held December 4th, 1961 was called to order by Mayor A. Hussey at 7:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held November 20th, 1961 were presented to
each Councilman for his approval. Motion duly made by Councilman Seng, these
minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by COWlCilman Palmateer and by
vote CARRIED.

Letters were read. from John Grafton, Insurance Agent stating he would bid on
insurance covering the City of Edgewater. Also letter from G. C. and Ruth V.
Branzel, objectinb to extension of Swartz Trailer Court. Also petition signed
by residents of Hardin Place and Riverside Drive objecting to extension of Swartz
Trailer Park. Also letter from Marion Wilcken objecting to Ford's Used Car Lot.

OFFICERS REPORTS
The Clerk read the Clerk's Cash Statement and the Budget Report for the
month of November. Also the Librart Board's Yearly Report and the Librarians
November report.

The above and foregoing Resolution was read by Attorney Warren and motion
duly made by Councilman Kennedy this Resolution be adopted. said motion being
seconded. by Councilman Palmateer and upon roll call vote the said Resolution
was duly. declared adopted at the Regular Meeting of said COuncil on the 4th

Councilman Kennedy stated. it had, been agreed that the Zoning & Planning Board
be notified to place all notices pertaining to hearings in the Daytona Beach
News Journal.
NEW BUSINESS
Bids on a Chassis for the Garbage Truck were opened. Bids were as tollows:-

Motion duly made by Councilman Kennedy we accept the Bid of $5.471.60 from
Smokey' s Automotive Service as this is almost $1000 lower, seconded by
Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as tollows:-

Mayor Hussey stated he had a layout of stop signs needed in Florida
Shores. He stated it would take 500 signs and posts to complete the
posting of the streets. Of course there are some signs already up
that can be used. This was discussed and motion duly made by Council-
man Seng the City call for bids on the amount of signs and posts needed,
seconded by Councilman Kennedy and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being
as follows:-

Letter and Petition objecting to Swartz Trailer extension. It was decided
to hold this letter and petition until such time as Mr. Swartz makes a new
application.
Letter from Marion Wilcken pertaining to Ford's Used Car Lot. Mayor Hussey
stated he would look this lot over and see what could be done. Mr. Wilcken
. stated he had no objection if Mr. Ford would park the cars in a different
manner so as to not obstrUct the view of his restaurant.
Councilman Kennedy stated there was a matter to using part of the Park &
Pier for a Children's Playground. The same to be fenced off and equipment,
such as swings and sand b~x, etc. This was discussed by the CoUncil arid
the public,and Mr. Grafton stated the old board had not been able to get
a meeting with the forme~ Mayor and Council. Mr. Brown stated he had offered
to donate playground equipment and the offer still stands. Motion duly made
by Councilman Kennedy that a Resolution be drawn to re-appoint the former
board of Harry Broga, Falco DelPizzo, George Driskel and John Grafton, seconded
by Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED.
Motion by Councilman Siller the Council meet with this board at the earliest
convenience, seconded by Counci.l1nan Kennedy and by vote CARRIED. A Meeting
was set for Friday evening at 7:30 P.M.
ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING BID OF SMOKEY'S AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE OF DAYTONA ~H,
FLORIDA AND REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS.
The above Ordinance was read in full by Attorney "Tarren and motion duly made
by- Councilman Siller, seconded by Councilman Kennedy and passed by unanimous
vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at the regular
IIfleting of said Council held on December 4, 1961. Roll call vote being as
follows:-

Upon motion duly made by Councilman Seng, seconded by Councilman Siller and
carried, the requirement of reading said Ordinance upon second reading was
waived and the Ordinance was ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at
the regular Meeting of said Council on the 4th day of December, A.D. 1961,
and approved as provided by law, the vote of said Council being as follows:-

Mr. Grafton ask when the Bods on Insurance covering the City would be in.
He stated he had. his bid ready, but did not want to turn it in for another
agent to see. He was informed the other agent now holding the insurance
would have his bid in for Friday evening meeting December 15th. He then
ask to be present and was informed it would be O.K.
Mr. Tarnapo1 ask if there was anything to report on the expansion of the
City to the South. He was informed nothing had been done about it yet and
the Attorney was ask to look into this and report just what action has to
be taken in order to annex territory to the South.
Mrs. Carden ask that parking spaces in front of the Baptist Church be
marked.
Mr. Beach ask if signs prohibiting trucks on Riverside drive could not be
put up. Mayor Hussey stated he would contact the County and see if these
signs would be furnished by them.
Mrs. Maxwell ask about the Resume Speed sign on the highway just North of
Florida Shores entrance. 'She stated there had been a petition turn.ed in
to Tallahassee and they in turn had. referred it to the State Road Department
in DeLand, but nothing had been done about it. A survey was made by the
State Road Department and they reported the traffic in and out of Florida
Shores did not warrant moving the sign at the present time. Mayor Hussey
stated he would see what could be done about it.
There being no further business Councilman Siller moved we do now adjourn,
seconded by Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED.
