Robinson Present Absent Present Present Present Mr. Wiggins announced that this is a public hearing as adver- tised by certified mail to all persons involved on May 31, 1967. He then read from Ordinances 219 and 487 stipulating who can speak for or against the variance request. Anyone who wished to speak would be allowed three minutes to do so. The variance request to be considered was from Reverend William J. Richards and Margaret Richards requesting the rezoning of Lots # 482, 483, & 484 of the Hawks Park Subdivision; so they may be sold to the Edgewater Cemetery Association. Mrs. Hazel Carter, who is within 300 feet of the property, asked what was the ohject of the cemetery in regards to these 3 lots. Mr. Ralph Miller, representing the Edgewater Cemetery Association, explained that the 3 lots would square off the cemetery land and that they planned to put a road through Lot No. 482 along the Mosquito Control Canal to extend the existing road to Connecticut Avenue. The other 2 lots, 483 and 484, would probably used for individual burialpp~ots. He stated the Cemetery Board wants to purchase the property now because they can get it at a lower price and of course; in the futute they afe going to need the space. Mr. Mosher asked about Connecticut Street running through to U.S. Highway No.1. Mr. Miller said he didn't think so. That the Cemetery Association gave the city part of Connectiout Avenue. ~ ~ ~ u I .~ o o Mr. Mosher then asked what the zoning aspects were. Mr. Wiggins replied the Lots in question would have to be rezoned from residental to the use of burial plots. He explained he didn't see how the Zoning Board would have any final control over the decision, and that it would be up to the City Council. Mr. Mosher wanted to know if the cemetery was zoned for business. Mr. Wiggins explained the point of rezoning for the said lots is that if they are used for any purpose other than a street; they have to be rezoned. Mrs. Carter asked if there were going to be any type of buildings erected on the three lots. Mr. Miller replied there would be no buildings erected. After this statement, Mrs. Carter stated she had no objection as long as no buildings were constructed. Mrs. Roselind G. Ainsley, who is within aoo feet of the property, had no objection so long as the road ran on the east side of the Mosquito Control Canal and no buildings were erected. Mr. James D. Piper, who is within 300 feet of the property, had no objection to the variance. A letter was read from Mrs. Richard S. Browning dated April 14, 1967, stating she was opposed to rezoning the said lots in question. At this point, Mr. Wiggins dismissed those present so the Zoning Board could discoss the issue and make a decision. Minutes taken by Patricia Spencer Time 8:35 P.M. Board
