Mr. Wiggins announced that this is a public hearing as advertised
by certified mail to all persons invo1ved~ and by appearance in
the morning and evening editions of the Daytona News Journal on
January 26, 1968.
The purpose of this hearing is to consider the request of James L.
and Veleda H. Budd, owners of Budd's Riverside Court and Trailer
Park for variance requesting rezoning of their property from what
is now residential to commercial for the purpose of extending their
trailer park.
Mr. Wiggins then read from Ordinance Nos. 219 and Section 15 of
478 stipulating those who were qualified to be heard and stated
that each such party would have three minutes to speak for or
against the variance request. Afterwards, all communications in
regard to this request would be read.

8. Attorn~y Matthews on behalf of some owners spoke against.
Mr. Broughton brought out the fact that the trailer park extension
would de-evaluate the homes on Parkwood Lane.
Attorney Matthews spoke about trailer parks as having transient type
residents not the type who have their roots in the ground and who
pay the majority of the taxes. He stated that the homes in the
qualified area are worth a lot more than the trailer p~rk in mention.

He stated that these would suffer loss in value of property if
the trailer park was allowed to extend and therefore recommended
against it.
After everyone had spoken, Mr. Budd gave some facts about trailer
owners and stated that his tenants were all retired, as was he him-
self, and that he allowed no children or pets and that these people
kept their places clean and neat. He also stated that the trailer
park had been there about nine years and the homes built on Park-
wood Lane only about 3 years to his knowledge. He invited anyone to
come anytime and. inspect his park.
Mr. Broughton stated that the homes on Parkwood Lane had been built
about five years ago and that for now the park might be kept up but
that Mr. Budd might sell and then what.
Mrs. Robertson ~ta;~q that the homes had been bought with the under-
s tan din g fro m ~ l\:er & T i z z a r d t hat the T rail e r Par k w 0 u 1 d be k e p t
in the present confines and that they had erected the redwood fence.
Mr. Budd stated he had no intention of selling, that he had retired
and had come here investing his money to live here in retirement.
One letter of correspondence from Burton & Jean E. Pedigo was read
stating they were against the variance.
Since there was no further discussion, the meeting was dismissed
~o that the Zoning Board members could confer and reach a decision.
