OLD BUSINESS Status of Amphitheater Mr. Fishback asked about the status of the amphitheater roof and Mr. Corder replied he was seeking bids to re-do the project, as the first company filed bankruptcy and prices have skyrocketed since the project was first bid. He stated he has one bid for now, which is $100,000 higher than planned, and possibly two more bids coming. Mr. Fishback asked if it was a canvas roof and if it will cover the back. Mr. Corder stated it would cover the top only and has to meet 120 mph wind code and fire code requirements. When asked how long it may be to complete the project, Mr. Corder said he hoped about three months. NEW BUSINESS 2007 Christmas Parade th Mr. Corder informed the Board of the upcoming 17 annual Christmas Parade, to be held th on December 8, at 10:00 am. The parade will start at Air Park Road as usual, and proceed down Indian River Boulevard and disperse at Winn-Dixie Shopping Center. Parks and Projects Update Mr. Corder stated the soccer complex was done and in use, with the soccer program being run by the YMCA week nights and Saturdays. 1 Recreation/Cultural Services Bd. November 8, 2007 Mr. Fishback asked who is taking care of the medians now, and Mr. Corder answered that his Department is. He stated they only do the biggest areas that are beautified about once a month as he can work it into the schedule, as we received no new staff to help. Also, he stated the mowers are really taking a beating, due to the medians being rough and uneven. The Board suggested that each of the new Council members be invited to an upcoming meeting, so they can get acquainted with this Board and the Department, and all the services they provide to the City. MISCELLANEOUS Mr. Tipton questioned why we seem to get nothing from the County taxes. Everyone seems to get a bigger piece of the pie than Edgewater. He noted also there is not even one County park in our city and Oak Hill alone, has about 3-4 County parks. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Mr. Fishback moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Sopko. Motion CARRIED 4-0. Minutes submitted by Barb Kowall 2 Recreation/Cultural Services Bd.
