On November 5,2024,a General Election was held to fill the expired term of City Council District 2
and a referendum question.The following election results were certified by the Volusia County
Canvassing Board on November 7, 2024:

The following election results on the referendum were certified by the Volusia County Canvassing
Board after a manual recount:

businesses and expansions of existing businesses that are expected to
create new, fulltime jobs in the municipality?

RESOLUTION 2024-R-38
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING AND ADOPTING
THE ELECTION RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 5, 2024,
GENERAL ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR INTENT AND
PURPOSE OF RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on November 5, 2024, a General Election was held within the City of
Edgewater for determination of City Council District 2.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, has determined that all
votes have been tabulated and confirmed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The candidates in the November 4, 2024, General Election received the number
of votes as set forth below:
DISTRICT 2
Gigi Bennington 5,183
Mike Thomas 7,133
Section 2. The ballot referendum question received the number of votes as set forth below:
Shall the Edgewater City Council be authorized to grant,
pursuant to §3, Art. VII of the State Constitution, property
tax exemptions to new businesses and expansions of existing
businesses that are expected to create new, fulltime jobs in
the municipality?
Yes - For authority to grant exemptions – 6,685
No - Against authority to grant exemptions – 6,737

Section 3. Acceptance and Adoption of Election Results. The results of the November 5,
2024, General Election are hereby accepted and adopted by the City Council. The Certificate of
County Canvassing Board is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit “A”.
Section 4. Severability. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of
this Resolution is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court of competent
jurisdiction, such portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such
holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion hereto.
Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and same are
hereby repealed.
Section 6. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
