2005-R-10 ~ 'WIll RESOLUTION NO. 2005-R-IO A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEW A TER, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION WORKERS FOR THE PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTION BY THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS FOR VOLUSIA COUNTY; APPROVING THE MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR POLLING PLACES (PRECINCT #901-COMMUNITY CENTER) AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION BY THE MAYOR OR CITY MANAGER; AND DESIGNATION OF THE CITY CLERK AND LEGAL ASSISTANTIPARALEGAL OR THEIR DESIGNEE TO CANVASS THE ABSENTEE BALLOTS FOR PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS; REPEALING ALL RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Edgewater desires to maintain the highest standards of adherence to pertinent State election laws and to maintain the highest integrity regarding the administration of local municipal elections; and WHEREAS, in 1995 the Legislature applied the election code to municipalities; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to comply with all requirements stipulated for primary and general elections. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida: Section 1. The City of Edgewater hereby provides that the election workers for the October 11,2005 Primary Election and the November 8, 2005 General Election shall be appointed by the Supervisor of Elections for V olusia County, Florida. 2005-R-IO 1 '-' ...", Section 2. The City of Edgewater hereby authorizes the Mayor or City Manager to execute the Memorandum of Agreement for Polling Places (Precinct #901 - Community Center), which is attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A". Section 3. The City of Edgewater hereby designates the City Clerk and Legal Assistant/Paralegal or their designee to canvas the absentee ballots for the Primary Election to be held on October 11, 2005 and the General Election to be held on November 8, 2005. Section 4. A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the V olusia County Supervisor of Elections by the City Clerk. Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and same are hereby repealed. Section 6. If any portion of this resolution is for any reason held or declared to be unconstitutional, inoperative, or void, such holding shall not affect the remaining portions of this resolution. If this resolution or any provisions thereof shall be held to be inapplicable to any person, property, or circumstances, such holding shall not affect its applicability to any other person, property, or circumstance. 2005-R-IO 2 Section 7.
