COMMENTS
Mr. Gross posed some questions regarding the Merit Board becoming
a board to raise salaries. It is his opinion that if an employee
performed a service in the job he is doing, it would be turned over
to the Merit Board for consideration, individually. We would send
our recommendation to the Council.

There was some conversation on this subject. It was the opinion
of the other board members that the Merit Board does not get involved
in individual situations.
Mr. Gross stated he wants a clarification and he would like to hear
from the department head with specific reasons in writing why any
change is made.
Mr. Fanale asked if the objectives of the Merit Board are clear?
Mrs. Sigler explained the Merit Board duties are spelled out in
the Merit Ordinance.
The board members filled Mr. Fanale in on what the board has pre-
viously been working on. There was some discussion about the status
of the job description packages submitted by the Merit Board to the
City Council.
Mrs. Stevens arrived at this time. She was brought up to date with
the meeting.
There being no further business, Mr. Fanale made a motion to adjourn,
being seconded by Mrs. Sigler.
Meeting adjourned 7:45.
