02-08-1982 u u CITY OF EDGEWATER Recreation Task Force Regular Meeting February 8, 1982 Chairman Baugh called the meeting to order at 1:38 PM. ROLL CALL Present: Messrs. Kroman, Baugh, Pendleton, Mitchell, Avery. Absent: Messrs. Nolan, Henderson, Wolfe. Also Present: Debbie Winks Mr. Mitchell noted that Mr. Kroman may no longer be a member of the Task Force as he was a Planning Board appointee. A ruling from legal counsel would be obtained. Mr. Kroman resigned, waiving the ruling. Moved by Mr. Avery, seconded by Mr. Pendleton, and UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED, to accept Mr. Kroman's resignation from the Recreation Task Force. Chairman Baugh called for a five minute recess. Chairman Baugh called the meeting back to order at 1:45 PM. REVIEW OF RECREATION BUDGET Mr. Mitchell explained that there are three sources of funding for recreation; private donations, general fund budget (Buildings & Grounds) , and Federal Revenue Sharing budget. From the Federal Revenue Sharing budget, $10,000 has been appropriated by Council for capital expenditures. The ge1neral fund budget for Buildings and Grounds is approximately $76,000, but out of this only $15,000 is for maintenance supplies of all areas. Mr. Avery was asked to prepare an estimate for maintenance of all the areas so Council can be given an idea of what is needed. TOUR OF FACILITIES The following facilities were visited: City Park and Pier - More concrete is needed at the end of one of the boat ramps as there is a large drop-off. Extra parking was discussed; it was suggested that the monkey bars and teeter-totter be moved for a parking area. The area needs regrading and fertilizing. It was noted that the lights at the tennis courts can't be reached to change. Riverside Drive - Two small parcels of land; a possible picnic area. Menard Beach - This area has a dock, and it was discussed about removing some of the poisonous bushes. This area needs a site plan. Indian River Point - Has park benches, is currently mowed and kept clean. by Buildings and Grounds. Florida Shores Homeowners Association Park - This is the only recreation area in Florida Shores. At present there is a clubhouse and a play area with swings. Lake and Alice - This a small play area with swings. Ballfields - There was a discussion on access roads. The proposed soccer and football field area was noted. Suggestions on what improvements could be made to each area was requested from the Board members. The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 PM.
