09-26-1989 Public Hearing o u CITY OF EDGEWATER LAND DEVELOPMENT AND REGULATORY AGENCY PUBLIC HEARING THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 1989 7:00 P.M. EDGEWATER PUBLIC LIBRARY Vice Chairman Martin called to order a Thursday, September 26, 1989, at 7:05 p.m., Public Library to discuss the Future Circulation, and Conservation Elements Comprehensive Plan. public hearing on in the Edgewater Land Use, Traffic of the proposed ROLL CALL: Members present were Mr. Bennington, Mr. Garthwaite, Mr. Hellsten, and Mrs. Martin. Mrs. Blazi, Mrs. Glover, and Mr. Klein were excused. Also present were Tom Jackson and Coen Purvis, consultants from Reynolds, Smith, and Hills, Mark Karet, Planning and Zoning Director, Lynne Plaskett, Planning Assistant/Grant Administrator, and Beverly Kinney, Secretary. There were approximately 6 people present for the public hearing. Future Land Use: The property currently zoned P.I.D. was discussed, and it was decided that the property would remain P.I.D. in stead of the suggested use of conservation by the consultants. It was noted that some rezoning requests previously presented to the Agency were being held until the future land use element had been adopted. It was noted that some property owners in Florida Shores wanted a higher land use designation placed on their property, because they abutted the Florida Shores Plaza. It would be considered a buffer between the high density use of the plaza and the low density use of single family residential. There was some discussion regarding the current traffic hazards on S.R. ~~2 and the fact that higher densities would place more of an impact on traffic. After discussion the members agreed the property abutting the plaza should remain single family. The property abutting Edgewater Landing was discussed. It was noted the property was designated as institutional on the future land use map, but the property has been purchased and recently rezoned to B-5 (planned shopping center).
