CITY OF EDGEWATER
Building Code Board Special Meeting
June I, 1983
Minutes
Mr. Robert Howard, Interim Chairman, called the meeting to order at
7:30 p.m. in City Hall.
ROLL CALL
Members present: Messrs. Howard, Troutner and Cole. Absent: Mr. Hall.
Also present: Mrs. Taylor, Secretary.
Mr. Howard explained that the special meeting was called to review the
applicants who had expressed an interest in serving on the Board. Those
people are:
Fred Vanzin, contractor, who lives in and does
business in Edgewater.
Lorin Coppock, lives in New Smyrna Beach, and
does construction work in Edgewater.
Dan Cory, Surveyor, lives in Edgewater, and conducts
business in Edgewater. Mr. Cory has not made a full
committment to serve on the Board.
"Chip" Niebel, lives in the County, and has a business
in Edgewater.
It was noted that Mr. Vanzin was a former member of the Building Code
Board, as well as a member of the Zoning Board, but was no longer a
board member. Mr. Howard said he felt the City would be well served
by having a general contractor on the Board. The members commented
that Mr. Cory is very busy and also involved with the volunteer fire
department. They agreed that Mr. Niebel would be a good man, but
felt Mr. Vanzin had more committment to the city.
Mr. Cole motioned to recommend to the City Council that Fred Vanzin
be appointed to fill the vacancy on the Board, and this appointment
be made at the next Council meeting at which Board appointments are
considered. The motion was seconded by Mr. Troutman and CARRIED 3-0.
The members suggested inviting Mr. Ray Bradshaw, City Building Official,
to the next regular meeting.
The meeting was adjourned 7:45 p.m.
Minutes submitted by Joan Taylor.
