CITY OF EDGEWATER
Building Code Board Meeting Minutes
July 15, 1982, 7:00 p.m.
Chairman Austin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in the conference
area of the Community Center.
ROLL CALL
Members present: Messrs. Austin, Hall, Howard. Absent: Mr. Cole and
Mr. Troutner. Also present: Mrs. Wadsworth, Secretary.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Moved by r~r. Howard, seconded by Mr. Hall, and UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED, to
approve the minutes of the April 15, 1982 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Austin said that of the three recommendations made to the Council, it
was his impression they were not enthused with the recommendation for
reinspection fee increases. They felt that the Code covers the owner-
builders' doing their own electrical, air-conditioning, heating and
plumbing. As for the water-retention area, they felt that it was a very
good idea.
Mr. Howard said that a homeowner can do his own construction, but he felt
that the electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning
should be signed off by a Master.
M 0 v e d by Mr. H 0 \'1 a r d, s e con d e d by Mr. Hall, and UNA N I ~1O U SLY CAR R lED, to
resubmit the same recommendations to the City Council that were submitted
before, and have members of the Building Code Board at the Council meeting
to reenforce the Board1s recommendations.
Regarding the reinspection fee, Mr. Hall felt that the $25.00 recommended
was steep. Mr. Howard said that if a Master inspector was required to sign
off before the Building Official was called to inspect the work two inspections
would probably be sufficient.
Moved by Mr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Howard, and UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED, to
recommend to the Council that the inspection fee be increased to $15.00
for the second inspection, and any additional inspection would be at the
rate of an added $5.00; it would go up from $15.00 to $20.00 to $25.00,
and so on, until it passed inspection.
The members agreed to be at the August 2nd Council meeting.
Moved by Mr. Hall, seconded by Mr. Howard, and unanimously carried to
reword the previous Motion as follows: To recommend to the Council that
the inspection fee be increased an additional $5.00 for each and every un-
scheduled reinspection.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
