The Board discussed the new septic tank ordinance. There
were representatives of two septic tank installati~n companies
present at this meeting.
It was _the opinion of th_e Board-that this new ordinance (No. 1017)
~as not the -answer to the problems in_the Florida- Shor~i area.
It would be expensive for the home owners and they do not
believe that it would be any better than the present systems
now being installed. The main problem seems to be in setting
grade stakes and putting them high enough so that the difference
between the top of the tank and the floor level would be at
least 12" minimum. The Building Official should have the
authority to inspect this and enforce it. The tank tops should
be 20" above the crown of the road however, this is often
measured above the grade.
Mr. Griffith made a motion that the Board recommend to the
Council that this Ordinance No." 1017 De repealed and that -
the City return to the original ordinance.; Mr. Harris seconded
the motion. The motion CARRIED 4-0.
The Board also talked briefly about studying the sign_ordinance.
The Council wants recommendations from the Board on establishing
a new sign ordinance for the City.
A letter was read from the Dept.of Community Affairs requesting
opinions on the establishment of a one and two family dwelling
code. The State would like the municipalities to seriously
consider adopting this code. This was tabled until the next
-meeting.
The motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
The meeting was adjourned.
