OLD BUSINESS
Bike Path/Roberts Road
Mr. Corder stated the plans are back from the engineers and
Council has approved going out for bids on the bike path on
Roberts Road. Mr. Montgomery asl.:ed if there was a projected date
when this may be completed and Mr. Corder said a date hasn't
definitely been set but all were hoping it could be finished by
the school's opening date which is scheduled for January. Mr.
Corder said it would go from the railroad tracks to Silver Palm
and it was his understanding that the School Board was going to
do the portion of the path from the school to U.S. 1.
NEW BUSINESS
Update on Parks
Mr. Corder stated more has been done to Whistle Stop; scoreboards
are up on two fields and additional netting has been added~
concrete has been poured on the approach in front and the
basketball court will be started in the coming week. He said the
pavi I ion and basketbal I court were done at Rotary Pari,: and the
playground equipment is ordered and picnic tables in. He added
the Rotary Club has just completed three horseshoe pits also.
Mr. Corder said the land being purchased in the north end of town
by the Community Development Blocl~ Grant is still being held up
by a cloud on the title and an extension has been asked for to
get it cleared up. He said the attorneys are still working on
the paperwork for the 26 acres and it should be finali~ed soon.
He noted he has received the permits for Veterans Park from
D.E.R. and Army Corps and is waiting on the D.N.R. permit and the
land lease agreement from the State and when that is done the
bidding process can begin. He said the paperworl~ for the grant
to construct a river wall,: on Riverside Drive had been handed into
the Port Authority and they were also out on bids now to repair
the boat ramps at Kennedy Park.
Softball ProQram
Mr. Corder stated he budgeted this year for a softball program
for men 35 years of age and over. Mrs. Mooney stated that other
cities were raising their sponsorship fees dramatically and it
would probably mean a good turn out for Edgewater. She said that
some cities were getting more concerned with making a profit off
their recreation programs and forgetting that people pay ta:<es
and expect to get something in return. Mr. Corder said he would
"also like to get a league started for girls.
