CITIZENS CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
THURSDAY, MAY 17, 1990

CALL TO ORDER:
Chairwoman, Maureen Borner called to order the regular meeting of
the Citizens Code Enforcement Board at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May
17, 1990.
ROLL CALL:
Members present were Mr. Christian, Mr. Lange, Mr. Cowan, Mrs.
Cucanich, Mrs. Strong and Mrs. Borner, Chairwoman. Mr. Kozlowski
was excused. Also present were Pat Di Leva, Code
Enforcement/Safety Director, Mark Karet, Director of Planning and
Zoning, Bill Vola, Fire Chief and Mike Hayes, Fire Inspector.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Mrs. Cucanich made a motion to accept the minutes of April 19,
1990 as presented. Seconded by Mrs. Strong. Motion CARRIED 4-0.
Chairwoman Borner and Mr. Christian were unable to vote as they
were absent from the April 19, 1990 meeting.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Mr. Di Leva gave an update of the Jiffy Store at Indian River
Blvd. and passed pictures showing progress thus far. Mr. Karet
reported that the fine imposed by the Board, has accumulated to
$21,250.00 as of this date.
NEW BUSINESS:
Mr. Di Leva reported Case #'s 90-CC-043, 90-CC-048, 90-CC-049,
90-CC-068, and 90-CC-069 ar~ now in compliance.
Case #90-CC-047 - Allan Worthington - Inoperable truck parked on
property.
Mr. Di Leva passed pictures to the Board showing the truck. Mr.
Worthington spoke in his own behalf and explained to the Board
that he missunderstood the purpose of the Code Enforcement
Board. He thought the Board would tell him what to do with the
truck. He further stated that he will either sell or have the
truck removed as soon as possible.
Mrs. Strong made a motion to remove or sell the truck by June 1,
1990. Also, a fine of fifty dollars ($50.00) will be imposed for
the violation. Seconded by Mr. Christian. Motion CARRIED 6-0.
Case #90-CC-066 - Consumer Discount - Weeds in excess of two (2)
feet, fence in need of repair. Mr. Di Leva recommended tabling
this case until June Board meeting.
Case #90-CC-070 - Mr. Schmeltz - Spray booth not in compliance
with standard fire code.
Fire Inspector, Mike Hayes, reviewed the case, explaining a
letter was sent to Mr. Schmeltz explaining the spray booth
violation, and passed pictures showing the spray booth.
Chief Vola explained that Mr. Schmeltz's occupational license
does not allow for a spray booth.
Mr. Schmeltz spoke in his behalf, stating that he did spray at
one time, but will not do so again.

enforcement to talk to the Board.
AD30URNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Board a motion
was made and accepted to adjourn. The meeting adjourned at 8:23
p.m.
