CITY OF EDGEWATER
CITIZEN CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD
September 26, 1985 7:00 p. m.
MINUTES
The Citizen Code Enforcement Board was called to order
at 7:05 p.m. in the City Hall by Mr. Vincent Turano,
Vice Chairman.
ROLL CALL
Members present were: Messrs. Turano and Biggerstaff;
Mrs. Kane, Mrs. Moses, Mrs. Ciccarello and Mrs. Cucanich.
Mr. Williams was excused.
Also present: Mr. Dennis Fischer, Code Enforcement Officer.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mrs. Cucanich moved that the minutes of August 29, 1985,
be approved, seconded by Mr. Biggerstaff. CARRIED 6-0.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Turano informed the Board that through an inadvertence
the minutes of the July 25, 1985 meeting had not been approved.
Mrs. Ciccarello moved that the July 25th, 1985 minutes be
approved, seconded by Mrs. Moses. CARRIED 6-0.
NEW BUSINESS
85-CC-IO, Steve Campbell, 206 S. Ridgewood Avenue, Violation
of S633.081 and Ordinances 10, 43, 44 and 46.
Mr. Campbell having failed to appear at the meeting, Mr. Turano
then called on Mr. Fischer to apprise the Board of the situation
as of this date. Mr. Fischer presented a very thorough summary
of the violations. Mr. Fischer informed the Board these
violations still exist, such as the collection of trash,
allowing all types of debris to accumulate, disregard of
fire violations, and complete diregard of securing the
buildings. Mr. Biggerstaff asked if the buildings were
in such a condition as to warrant demolition, and Mr. Fischer
stated they were not, that the buildings really needed to be
secured, such as boarding the doors and windows. After quite a
lengthy discussion, Mrs. Cucanich made a motion a letter be
written to the owner of the property, with a copy to Mr. Campbell,
to remedy these violations in sixteen days; and if the conditions
to avoid violation have not been met by that time, the City will
come in and remove the debris and do any other work necessary to
bring the property out of violation. It was further suggested
the cost be assessed against the property in lieu of a fine.
The motion was seconded by Mrs. Kane. CARRIED 6-0.
Memo from Attorney Alvarez Re: Amendment to 8.162.02 F.S.
Mr. Turano informed the Board that copies of the above memo
were attached to their packets for their information and the
Board noted the changes in said Statute.
