Citizen Code Enforcement Board
June 28, 1984
Minutes
Chairman Prater called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Community
Center.
ROLL CALL
Members present: Messrs. Williams, Turano, Richardson, Rotundo and Prater
and Mrs. Kane. Also present: Mrs. Taylor, Secretary. Excused: Mr. Rosa.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Mr. Richardson and seconded by Mr. Turano to approve
the minutes of the May 31, 1984 meeting. The motion CARRIED 6-0.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS -
The members briefly discussed the progress being made concerning the problem
with trash pick-up in the City. Mr. Prater said that he has received a copy
of the Workshop minutes of June 15, at which this subject was addressed. He
explained that the City is at present trying to get bids for trucks to be used
for trash and: garbage pick-up.
ELECTION OF NEW OFFICERS
Mr. Prater opened the floor for nominations for Chairman. Mr. Richardson
nominated Mr. Prater. Mrs. Kane seconded the motion. There were no other
nominations for Chairman. Mrs. Kane motion to close nominations for Chairman,
which was seconded by Mr. Williams. Upon roll call, the motion to elect Mr.
Prater Chairman CARRIED 6-0.
Mr. Prater opened the floor for nominations for Vice Chairman. Mrs. Kane
nominated Mr. Rotundo. Mr. Williams seconded the motion. There were no
other nominations. Mrs. Kane motioned to close the nominations. Mr. Tunano
seconded the motion. The motion to nominate Mr. Rotundo as Vice Chairman
CARRIED 6-0.
PUBLIC HEARING - Danny Loeffler - Violation of Section 5-43 - Animals pro-
hibited within the City limits - 820 West Park Avenue_- 84-CC-3
The secretary advised that an In-Compliance form has been signed by Sgt. W. D.
Lenz, dated June 28, 1984, stating that corrective action has been taken by
the respondent, Danny Loeffler.
Mr. Prater informed the Board members that he had talked to Mr. Loeffler the
morning of June 28. Mr. Loeffler was keeping chickens on his property. He
explained to Mr. Prater that he got the chickens in order to keep the ant
population under control. He had gotten rid of all of the chickens except
for a rooster, which was his daughter's pet. After learning that ?_permit
to keep the chicken would cost $50 he got rid of the chicken.
Mr. Richardson motioned that this case be removed from the Board. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Williams and CARRIED 6-0.
Mr. Prater commented that Mr. Loeffler was very understanding about the matter.
MISCELLANEOUS
Mr. Richardson brought out that there are a lot of code violations within
the City that should be looked at by the Code Enforcement Board, but they
are not being brought to the Board by the Code Enforcement Officers.

Mr. Williams motioned that a letter be sent to the Mayor and City Council
advising them that members of this Board have had people approaching them
about trash in yards and other Code violations which need to be cleaned up
that this Board can do nothing about, and it is recommended that Council
approach the law enforcement officers to take care of these violations.
Mr. Richardson seconded the motion. The motion CARRIED 6-0.
The members briefly discussed building code violations. Mr. Rotundo noted
that that type violation would go to the Building Code Board.
Mr. Richardson motioned that the meeting be adjourned.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
