89-O-15ORDINANCE NO. 89-0-15 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGE - WATER, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 2-26 'ORDER OF BUSINESS' OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, BY AMENDING THE AGENDA FORMAT; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION, A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in order to effectuate a smoother run City Coun- cil meeting and expedite various issues that come before the City Council, a recommendation has been made to amend the format of the Agenda, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at their regular meeting of April 17, 1989, considered such recommendations and instructed the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance on the subject. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA. SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Article II, of the Code of Ordi- nances of the City of Edgewater, is hereby amended as follows:* CHAPTER 2. ADMINISTRATION. ARTICLE II. COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS Section 2-26 Order of business. Items on the consent agenda are not subject to discussion. 2 Ord. No. 89-0-15 One of the most basic rules of a consent agenda is that any member of the City Council may remove any item from the consent agenda simply by verbal request at the City Council meeting. Removing an item from the consent agenda would not require a motion, second, or a vote; it would simply be a unilateral request of an individual Councilmember. (5) New Business. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and all resolutions in conflict herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. If any section, part of a section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. SECTION 9. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, and approval as provided by law. This Ordinance was introduced by Councilwoman Bennington This Ordinance was read on first reading and passed by a vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, and approval as provided by law, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 15th day of May 1989.
