NEW BUSINESS
Asuggestion was made that the Council get in tmuch with the Road Contract~
ors and have them rCmDve the brush and debris asthey go along and not
leave it piled high on other people's property, and along the edge of
the highway. Vice ~~yor Lo~~n stated that the Council had this .in mind
and asked a representative of the Contractors, who was present,to state
the intentions of the Company in this matter. He stated that the contract
called for the burning of all debris on the right of way, but this being
a dirty, smoky business they would like the privilege of using a part
of the dumping ground for this purpose. After suggestions and discussions
Vice ~~yor Lohman moved, that if the Contractors would, with their
bUlldozer, dig a hole on the dumping ground, place all debris therein
and cover with earth when finished, also pay the sum of$IOO.OO,to the Town
Edgewater, for this privilege , the Town of Edgewater Would grant them
the Privilege, second"ed by Councilmn.n Hussey and by vote declared CARRIED.
The representative of the Contenctors that he felt that that would be
agreeable to his ~ompany, that he would get in touch with ~om and
report to the Council immediatly.
Applications wore considered for Street Supervisor. Vice ~~yor Lohman
thought it wise not to appoint a Street Supervisor until after the Special
Election when there would be a full Council. Vice ~~yor Lohman moved that
Mr.Ciscoe be hired by the month,at a salary of$IOO.OO a month aeconded by
CounciLman Hussey and by vote declared CARRIED.

Mr.Michaels Consulting Engineer presented the plans and specificatins of t
the now distribution system for tho Town of Edgewuter and explained these
in detail. After much discussion Councilmnn HU8sC"y moved that the Town
advertise for bids for this system in the Daytona News-~ournal,~ampa
MOrnning Tribune and ~acksonville Times-Union and that all bids must be in
Office of the Town Clerk on or befo,re 'ff:oo P.M. February 12th, 1947,sec-
onded by Vic~-Mayor Lohman and by vote declared CARRIED.
Mr Robert Fuller called the Councils attention to the Registration book
and asked when the names of persons not legally entitled ot be on the book
were stricken fromi.it. Mr Fuller suggested somo nction should be taken in
this matter. Vice-~~yor Lohman stated that he thought this could be done
only at a specified time previous to the annual election and asked Attorney
French to look up the ~~w in this ~~ttcr.
Mr. Mills called attention to the fact that the COlillcil promised, almost a
year ngo,to remove the toilets from the S.W.clbrner of the Barbecue Stand
but to date nothing had been done. Vice-Mayor Lohman explained that it was
necessary to have the co-operation of the V.I.A. in this ~~ttor and to date
they had been unable to get together. Vice-Mayor Lohrrk~n stated he would see
Mr. Wilkinson about this arid see if some action could be taken.
Mr.David MCGinnis referred to Mr,Scnders letter and said that he felt that
the suggestion contained thcrein,if worked out would be of great benifit to
the Town and asked for a more detailed explanation. Mr. Senders he would be
glad to answer any questions. In reply to the suggestion contained in this
letter,Vic~-Mayor Lohman stated that the electric light problem had been
taken care of , the bathing bench we already have and would relnain as is. The
repairs to the V.I.A.hall would have to be taken up with the V.I.A.before
any thing could be done.Nothing had been done about the publicity(:committee
but suggestions are in or~er.After considerable discussion Vice-Mayor
Lohrrk~n appointed Mr.Senders,Mr.MCGuinnis and Mr.Gibbs as a committee to
formulate plans for n commdttce to promote Edgcwnter.
Mr.Cox re~ortQd on the deplorable condition of Riverside Drive.
Council~~n Hussey spoke on the use of hand signals when coming to a stop
at the traffic light to warn following cars and said he lli~d ne~cr seen one
motorist make use of hand signals,hc also stated that while the State Patrol
car was parked at the light not one car ran the red light. Councilman Hussey
Thought it would be a good idea to paint Police Car on the car of Marshall
Thomas
