READING OF MINUTES Minutes of the regular meeting held January 8, 1947 and of the special meeting held January 15, 1947 were read. Councilman Hussey moved they be approced as rend,seconded by Vice- mayor Lohman!"~and by vote declared CARRIED. Business of the meeting was suspended at this time that the Council might hear complaints lodged by Deputy Sheriff Galbraith and f'AiT/f~~MAJ/ BRA.Z/J.of the State Road Patrol against the proprietors of the Edgewater Inn and' thoir method of pperatihg the Inn. Sighting instances of disregard of the law; such as selling liquor to minors, to persons already under the influ- ence of liquor and keeping a disorderly and rowdy place. It was the OP~B- ion of Deputy Sheriff Galbraithtthat their licanse should be revoked claim- ing that the proprietors are incompetent of carrying on this business. State Patrolman I3~A7/'- corroborated these statements. Vice-Mayor Lohman instructed the Clerkto contact Mr. French and ask him to get out the necessary papers for a public hearing that these persons may appear and show cause,if any, why their license should not be revoked. After which the business of the meeting was resumed. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS. Th~ following bills were read; Frank Armstrong J .S .Bates Asperb Garage and ~ervice Station Edgewater Motors Skinner and Kennedy Stationery Co. Tampa Morning Tribune $7.00 2.43 I.60\' 4.00 .85 8.68 Councilman Hussey moved these bills be approved as read, paid and made n part of these minutes, seconded by Vice-Mayor Lohman and by vote CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS Clerk reported having visited the pfficD of the State Road Department in De Land in regard to the placing of signs on U. S. Highway No.lIlimiting speed and warning of,Trafic Light ahead. The reply being, that as soon as the highway is finished they will come to Edgewater and place the necessary signs. Clerk reported'having visited Dr. Higgens the health officer in regard to the Dr. Fredrick Thompson case. Dr Higgens had already received a report from Mr. Quillian, and assured the Clerk that he would give ,the m~tter his immediate attention,also would get in touch with Dr. Jones the County physician. STANDING COMMITTEES A report of the "Edgewnter ComIni ttee for the Advancement, Improvement and Expansion of tho Town of Edgewater", was read in full by the Clerk. This I Y 'wi v :~ was laid on the table until the next regular meeting. COMMUNICATIONS. A letter received from the War Department containinga permit, with drawings a ttncllttd, nli.thorizing the Tovm of Edgewnter, Florida to perform the"w61'k-:1 specified therein and calling attention to conditions under which this permit is issued. The Clerk read a letter from Jess ~~thas~ Clerk of the Circuit Court, Contain- ing a check for $3I5.I3 representing prornta share due the Town of Edgewater on County land sales made during April, ~~y and June I946. ORDINANCE NO.I46 The second reading of Ordinance lIo.I46. Said Ordinance was ordered put upon its final passage. Passed by the unnnilnous vote of the Town Council of the Town of Edgewnter, Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 22nd. day of January A. D. I947, anel approved as provided by lnw, the vote of said Council being as follows; Vice-~~yor E. H. Lohnk~n Councilman A. Hussey Yes Yes UNFINISHED BUSINESS It was suggested to the Council that the Town collect the$I5.~O due the Town of Edgewato~, from the County,for removing of a tree. The Clerk was instruct- ed to write ~~king an appointment with DDunty Commissioner Beck to see Vice- Mayor Loh~~n. NEW BUSINESS A suggestion was made by Mr Gonyaau that the road leading to the Town dump be cleared of brush and otherwise made safe for cars to and from the dump without damage. Mr Tho~~s inquired of the Council 'what disposition was going to be made of the steel rack which is at present lying on the grolmd near the Town Hall,as Mr Kerst had approached him regarding the purchase of this rack if The Towo considerod selling it. Council decided, that as this had proved dangerous to the children as a toy, they would consider this matter. Vice-Mayor Lohman moved that the cost of the building permit be donated to the Union Church by the Town of Edgowator. Seconded by Councilman Hussey and by vpte declared CARRIED. - Building Permits wore issued to Harley F. Sheldon and Seth L Clinton. A suggestion was ~~de by Mr Clyde Cox, and discossed with the Council, that the Citizens of the Town of Edgewater hold a ~~ss-meeting and invite the candidates for the office of Council~~n to br present and declare their intentions on ~~tters pertaining to the good of the Town. This not being Town business Mr Cox volUnteerod to get out notices and call the meeting.
