READING OF MI:NUTES. The minutes of the regular meeting held May 28., 1947 were read. Council- man Hussey moved they be approved as read, seconded by C9uncilman ~'1.tthews . and by vote declared CARRIED. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS. Spargo 75.00 Councilman Hussey moved these bills be approved as read, paid and be made part of these minutes, seconded by COWlcilmnn M.'1.tthews and by vote declared CARRIED. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. Clerk read his cash statement and budget report for the period May 1st to 1my 31st 1947. Councilm'1.n Hussey moved these reports be accepted seconded by CounciLman 1futthews and by vote declared CARRIED. Clerk reported having seen Mr Galbreath regarding control o.f traffic on the Hi&hway thru Edgewater and he said that he and the State road l#jii~iN patrol were doing all they could in this matter. 1tt. Galbreath suggested the Town of Edgewater write the State road department and demnnd they erect signs governing speed of traffic on the Highway. Clerk was instructed to write State road department in this ~'1.tter. Clerk reported having written the several business houses regarding taking out licenses in order to do business in the Town of Edgewater and having lli'1.d a reply from only two. COWlcil instructed the Clerk to make out applications for those who had not replied nnd hand them to the Marshal who was instructed to call on each party and either collect or refus them the privilege of doing business in The Town of Edgewater. Clerk reported having received a copy of SeTh'1.te Bill No. 517. abolishing the Office of 'fown Clerk and pnoviding for the appointment of a Town Clerk by t~e Town Council. This copy is attached and ~'1.de part of these minutes. COMMUNICATIONS . Aletter was received from Mr. Gillespie containing a bill for one hundred dollallrs($lOO.OO) due him from the Town of Edgewater for Proffessional services. The Town was credited' wih 66.66 reftmdof quartly salary leaving a bnl~nce of 33.34 due Mr Gill~spie. No action was taken. A letter was received from Mr. W. L. Robertson containing inStlrance policies and a bill for 11.62. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Counc~~-Hussey reported t~~t as yet he had been unable to see Mr. Fee, but would see him as soon as he could find time. , NEW BUSINESS. A complaint was m~de, to the Council, regnrding the mounds of earth at the approaches to Merri~~c and Woodley Ave~,left thereoby the road men,nnd claiming thnt this was n. dn.ngerous condition. Council instructed Clerk to write to the State Road Department,regarding this condition, also regarding the condition of the shoulders of the Highway, whiBh still rem~ined unfinished. Clerk called the attention of the Council to the fn.ct thn.t Lots 2,3& 8, Sec B, ma~ked' Delinquent'on the tax roll, were sold by the 60lmty in ~~y of . 1946and the owner wants now to pay the taxes on this property. After some discussion the Council decided that no taxes could be assessed on property sold by the County for the same year in which it Was sold. Councilman ~~tthews moved that the business, beer and wine licenses, in the nrone of J. S. Bates be transferred to M. K. Clinton, seconded by Councilmn.n LW Hussey and by vote declared CARRIED. Council approved business licenses for M. R. Bn.tes, W.L.Robertson, Floyd Stomaon, Felbert F.Blirker and C.A.Phillips. Building permits for Ann Schnore and Otto Hovnrter. A request qas made by ~~. Gibbs, of the Edgewater Improvement Club, to the Council, that the Town clean up the recreation ground as they wish to hold a picnic there on July fourth. Council assured Mr. Gibbs that this would be done. Mr. Shuler appeared before the Council and asked thier approval of n. plan he had formulated to establish a fishing camp on Riverside Drive and wanted the the approval of the Coun~il before purchaseing property for this purpose. Council told Mr. Shuler the could not give thier approval as Riverside Drive was restricted to residences only,. .but that south of Turgot Ave. there were no restrictions.
