REPORTS OF OFFIUERS. Marshall Thomas reported contacting a workman of the Mosqu~to liontrol reg- arding the ditch at the Khulhoff property. ~he worl~~n claimed that the l~squito liontrol is not responsible for the condition of the ditch. liouncil~an ~~tthews reported likewise. The Uouncil decided to place the matter before liommissioner ~eck. RESOLUTION. A IWsolution expressing gratitude and thanks to the tlonorable Walter G ~alker, Senator for the 28th District of the 8tate of ~lorida, for his interest~~ld service to the toml of ~dgewater. ~he above Jieso1ution was read in full and passed by the unanimous vote of the ~own Council of the ~own of Edgewater, ~'lorida, at a regular meeting on the 23rd day of July A. D. 1947. upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the requirement of reading said Jiesolution upon second reading was waived, and said Res- olution was ordered put upon its final passage. Passed by the unanimous vote of the ~own Gouncil of the ~own of Edgcwatcr, l!'lorida, at a regular meeting of said Uouncil held on the 23rd day of Jul~, A. Moyor Lohman called upon Mr. Mc Ginnis to report, to the people, his findings iregarding the h<.:q:d surfacing of Park Avenue. Mr Mc (jinnis~~fln:tBte had been in lJeLand all day contncting the Volusin..liouri:.ty \,;ommissioners and other Officials. \,;ommissioner .l5eck, being present, was introduced by ~tr McGonnis since, in his opinion Mr Heck could explain the situation more fully. Mr Heck assured the \,;ouncil of the full cooperation of the \,;ommission in this II1.'1.tter. Mr. Heck explained that the present road bed was not sufficient for resurfacing nnd recommended consulting an engoneer to 1ny out the rond bed nnd estim..'1.te its cost. After which the \,;ounty nnd the Town would get to- gether in the matter. Mr. Luther,the Attorney,for the vOlli1ty,explained to the \,;ounci1 that the us- ual procedure was 0. fif:.ty-fifty proposition between the \,;ounty and the TOwn. The L:ouncil's suggestiDn, to assess all nbutters of Park Avenue to help defray the expense, was not npproved of by Mr. Luther,since that would be a great burden to the people of this locality. He suggested an assessmsnt on all tax pnyers. .M:r. Heck agreed to see Mr. Swope about the laying out ,of Park Avenue. vOlli1ci1mnn Hussey called Mr. Heck~s attention to the ditch nt the Kholhoff property. Mr Heck ,reported that 0. leva1 of the ditch had been taken by a government employee, but that he hnd not heard the result. tie, Mr. Heck would hnve'Mr. Swope take the 1eva1 of the ditch when he came to layout Park Avenue, if one end was found higher than the other he would put in a drag line to remedy the condition. Mr. Mcginnis reported that while in lJeLand he gathered some infornk'1.tion on the plans for the new sqper highway which the uovernment intends to build. he heard that the uovernment favored fQl10wing the course of the Miver Hond, but that there might be a fifyt-fifty chance of the (joverl~'1.bt using the present u. S. Highway No.1 if it were possible to get n iOO foot right of way through the Town. \,;ounciDlli~n Hussey introduced .l:!,;xecutive oecretnry W.J.(jozens,of the .l:!,;nst Voluth L:ounty uIk'1.mber of 60mmerce, who assured the Town that the lihnmber of \,;ommerce was fully behind them in their efforts. then followed a general discussion as to ways and means of having the new highway follow the course of the present u. o~ Highway ~o. 1. Mayor Lohnk~ appointed two committes to find how many abutters of ~ eaoh side of the present highway would agree to donate, at least, seventeen feet~ or who would donate up to thirty-four feet on the cast side of Highway ~o.l.
