The l\iayor reported on a check which was taken for a bond for appearance
and the lllntter VI/IJ.S refered to the Attorney for an investigation.
Lhe Clerk read his Finanical 3tatement for the ~onth uf September and a
Statement for the Fiscal Year ending September 30th, 1942.
Councibnan douthard moved that these reports be approved and be made a
part of tQ,ese minutes, seconded by Councilman Btalnaker and by vote declar-
ed CARRIED.

16th to 3Qth Incl.
Mr. Aoore reported that the Lot 5, Mendalls hawks Park Sub. had been eut
157' back from. the Highway, -that '.oodley citreet drainage near Riverside
arivc was as good as it could be with the present grades, that the bridge
on Oakridge Ave. had been rebuilt and raised higher, and that he needed
more time to investigate the cost of clearing the ::3outh 251 of Lot 31,
Hlock F, Sec. 2, rlighland Shores Sub.

Attorney Gillespie reported at lenght on the ~arious types of U.S.rlonds
~hich could be purchased by the ~own.
Counciilk~n Southard moved that the iKayor and the Clerk be and they arc here-
by authorized to purchase one(l) Series F *,11000.00 lmturity Value Hond for
the sum of ~740.00, t~~t~400.40 be invested in a Certificate of Deposit of
Date October 1st, 1942 and maturing Septelnber 30th, 1943 und that for the
payment of these a Certificate of Deposit No. 23 maturing 3eptember 30th,
1942 in the sum of ~102e.OO; Accured interest on smne amounting to ~20.40;
and ~100.00 drawn from the Permanent Improvement Jund Checkin~ Account be

passage, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared unanimously

CowLcil~Ln Southard moved that Pentland and Robertson, C.P.A. be employed
to audit the Town's Books for the Fiscal Year ending 3eptember 30th, 1942
~IDr the sum of dixty Dollars, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote
declared CARRIED.
Councilman Southard moved that the Clerk be authorized to give a rebate of
$1.00 to the purchaser of the old mower, seconded by Councilman. 3talnaker
and by vote declared C1UtilIED.
NEW BUSINEJS.
Councilman Southard 'iloved thut the Clerk issue D. ..?ermit to H.G.dmith to
keep Hogs on Lot 40 A, Asstrs Sub. of G.Alvarez Grant, seconded by Council1lli~n
Stalnaker and by vote declared CMtitIED.
CO'1l1ciL'1ll:1.n Southard moved that the Hew Smyrna Abstract Co. be elllj?loyed to
furnish their Property Transfer Jervice for the year October 1st, 1942 to
3eptember 30th, 1943 for the swn of $25.00 , seconded by COillLcibillln dtal-
nclcer and by vote declared C.~~~IED.
Councib&~~ Stalnaker moved that the Clerk post notice as to the times the
Registration Book will be open for the registration of Electors and as to
the t~c of Closing, seconded by Councilman So~thard and by vote declared
CARRIED. A copy of the Notice is attached and for~ a part of these minutes.
Councilman S*alnaker moved that $5.00 be denoted to the Dedication expenses
of the Red Cross First Aid Station located at the Ship, seconded by Council-
man Southard and by vote declared CARRI~D.
Councilman Stalnaker moved that a special meeting be called for October 15th
1942 at the hour of 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of receiving petitions of
candidates for the Office of Town CounciLYJlUn and for the office of Town
Clerk and for the purpose of adopting the necessary resolutions in connection
with the Town Election to be held on November 3rd, 1942, seconded by Council-
man Southard and by vote declared CARRIED. A copy of the notice is attached
and forms a part OL these minutes.
