MINUTES OF THE ORGANIZATION 1mETING OF THE TOWN qOUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD IN V. I.A.HALL ON
NOVEMBER 3, 1942.
The Clerk called the meeting to order at 8:23 P.M.
ROLL CALL.
Councilman O.E.Southaxd. Present.
Councilman.George L.Bailey.Present.
Councilman.Henry Stalnaker.Present.
Clerk. WaJ.. ter C.Fuller.Present.
Attorney. J.U.Gillespie.. Present.
Marshall. . J.S.Bates. Present.
Whereupon the Clerk read the "Oath of Office" as subsetibad to by Henry
Stalnaker to serve as Counci lman for the term of three years and EE sub-
scribed to by Walter C.Fuller to serve as Town Clerk for the term of one
year. These Oaths are attached and form a part of these minutes.
The Clerk read his Certificate of Election issued to Henry Stalnaker and
to Walter C.Fuller. These Certificates form a part of these minutefi.
Councilman Bailey moved that the Clerk act as Chairman Pro Tem, seconded by
Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Chairman announced that nominations were in order for a Councilman to serve
as Mayor for the next year.
Counci lman Southard and Stalnaker were nomina. ted. Ballots were voted and (l.'')
counted with the following result;
Councilman Southard 2
Counc ilman Stalnaker 1
Councilman Southard was declared elected Mayor.
Nominations were dcclared in order for Vice-Mayor. Counci lmen Bailey and
Stalnaker were nominated. Ballots were voted and the count showed
Counci lman Stalnaker 2
Councilman Bailey 1
Counci lman Stalnaker was declared elected Vice Ml\v or.
The Clerk surrendered the chair to MByor Councilman O.E.Southard.

Councilman Stalnaker moved the adoption of the Resolution, seconded by Council-
Bailey and adopted the vote of the Council being as follows:
Mayor Councilman. O.E.Southaxd. Yes.
Councilman. George L.Bailey. Yes.
Councilman. Henry Stalmker. Yes.

Councilman Bailey moved that the Clerk's Bond be set in the sum of $3000.
and that Sm11 's Insurance Agency have the bond renewed for this next year
at a cost of $30.00, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared
Carried.

Minutes November 3rd, 1942.

Mayor Southard anounoed tho appointment of J.S.Bates to serve as Marshall.
Councilman Bailey moved that Harry A.Moore be appointed as Street Maintain-
enoe Offioer and that the appointment of J .S.Bates as 1farshall be oonfirmed,
seconded by Counoilman Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED.
List of Fire Call Men was to be submitted by the Marshall at the next meeting,
COMMUNICATIONS.

A petition regarding the appointment of a Mayor was read.
Councilman Stalnaker moved that this petition be reoeived and filed, seoonded
by Counoilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.
A petition to request the Railroad Commission to require the Express Company
to extend their delivery and piok up service to Edgewater was read.
Counoilman Stalnaker moved that the Attorney prepare and file with the Rail-
road Commission a petition to have the Express Company extend their delivery
and piok up servioe to Edgewnter, seoonded by Councilman Bailey and by vote
declared unanimously CARRIED.
The Clerk was instruoted to write a 10tter of thanks to F.R.Renwick for his
work and interest in the matter of Express servioe.
Counoilman Stalnaker moved that we adjourn, seoonded by Counoilman Bailey and
by vote deolared CARRIED. Time 9;15 P.M.
