READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the meeting of .June15th and July 6th, 1943 were read whereupon
Councilman Stalnaker moved that they be approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
The Mayor reported that the traffic light at Park Ave. and the Highway was
broken by a truck on .June 18th, 1943.
~he Clerk read his finanical report flbr the month of .June whereupon Council-
man Stalnaker moved that it be made a part of the minutes, seconded b~
Councilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Acting Marshall reported that a truck had broken down electric lines at
the Iforth end of 'fown and th..'1.t he in conjunc.tion with the .:.New Smyrna Police
had caught the driver.
COMMUNICATIONS .
Aletter dated .June 21, 1943 was read from Mrs. M.E.Richmond. ~he Clerk wan
instructed to answer and advise that the Council expected all Real Es;tate .' ~ .
Brokers operating in Edgewater to have a license from the Town and that they
expected to enforce this Ordinance and prosecute all violations.
A letter dated July 10th, 1943 was read from R.S.Fee, City Manager, New
Smyrna Beach, in refenence to ~lcctric Light ~harity ~ases. The Ulerk was
instructed to advise that the Town could not undertake to pay such bills in
Edgewater.
Aletter dated July 1st, 1943 was read from Mr. A.B.Wilkinson.
A.letter dated June 30th, 1943 was read from Mrs. Thelma Crigger in reference
to a ~ire hazacd.

COMMUNICATIONS, Continued.
The Marshall was ordered to investigate and obtain a price on cleaning about
20' of the lot next East from Mrs. Crigger's in Hi~~nd shores Sub.
Letters from Paul D.Leddin dated June lJth, 16th and 23rd were read by the
<.;puncil.
Councim'ln Bailey moved that these Communications from Mr. Leddin be tabled
for the reason that Mr. J.S.Batas was not now the Marshall, second~l by
Councilman Southard and by vote declared unamiously CARRIED.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
Councilman Bailey moved that the Resignation of Mr. J.S.Bates as Marshall be
accepted as of July 1st, 1943, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote
declared CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS.
Mayor Southard announced the appointment of David A.Thomas as town Marshall
effective July 1st, 1943. .
Councilman Stalnaker moved that the appointment of Mr. David A,thomas be
confirmed, seconded by <';ounci~'ln Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Oath of Office was administered to Mr. Thomas by the <';lerk and Council
by motion duly made,seconded and carried ordered that the Oath be made a
part of the minutes.
Councilman Bailey moved thnt the sale of Lot 15, Edgewater Highlands Sub.,
for the sum of ~60.00 cash, to David B.Smith, be approved and confirmed nndt
that the Mayor and the <';lerk be and they are hereby authorized to sign a.
deed for the same, sceonded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared
CARRIED .
Councilman Bailey moved that the application of theo.A.Tica to keep 75 Hives
of bees on Lots 27,28,29,30 and 31, Block F,Sec.2, Highland Shores Sub. and
the application of M.M.Lord to keep 90 Hives of Bees on the ~orth t of Lot
11 Mendalls Homestead be granted and that the <.;lerk issue the Permits upon
the payment of the fees required by law, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker
and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bailey moved that a bond in the sum of ~1000.00 be procured for
the Marshall to protect the Town, the <.;lerk to make all arrangements, seconded
by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED.
Council instructed the Clerk to write to W.A.Boone to clean his lots on New
Hampshire Ave. ~ ." '.r:', .i
<.;ouncilman Stalnaker moved that lots 3,10,6 and 7, Hlock C, Sec. 2, Highland
Shores Sub. be offered at a: price of '300.00 total for the four lots on either
cash or standard contract basis, seconded by Councilman Bailey and by Vote
declared CARRIED.
An offer had been received of '200.00 for the four lots.
The Clerk reported on ~ Income other than that received for Taxes for the
FiscmL Year October 1st 1943 to September 30th, 1944.n Councilman Bailey move~
that the report be made a pa.rt of the minutes, Seconded by <.;ouncilman Stal-
naker and by vote declared CARRIED.
The clerk was instructed to write Darley and <';0. in reference to possible
usable parts on the broken Traffic Signal.
MISSCELLANEOUS BUSINESS.
Councilman Southard moved that a vote of thanks be extended to Mr. J.S.Bates
for the efficent manner in which he preformed his duties during his term o~
office as Town Marshall, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared
CARRIED.
Mayor Southard appointed J.S.Batas as a Deputy Marshall to serve without pay
but with such expanse allowances as approved by Council.
Councilman Stalnaker mov~d that we adjourn, seconded by Councilman Southard
and by vote doclared CARRIED. Time 9:10 P.M.
