The minutes of the meeting of July 26th, 1943 were rend, whereupon Council- mn.n Stalnaker moved that they be approved as read,' seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED. BILLS AND ACCOillITS. The following bills were reads City of New Smyrna Beach. J.U.Gillespie. I.Walter Hawkins. Joe Scheitle. Stallings-Jenkins Co. Southern Bell Telephone Co. Councilman Stalnaker moved that these bills be approved, be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Southard declared CARRIED. $35.19 37. 50 3.20 1.45 2.50 3.15 paid and be and by vote REPORTS OF OFFI CERS . The ll.c"tyor reported having reeei ved a letter and application form for a bond and turning it over to the Clerk. The Clerk read his financial report for the lfunth of July. Councilman Stalnaker moved tw..s."rcport be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED. Mr. Thomas and Mr. Moore filed work reports for July 16th to 31st Incl. Street Supervisor Moore reported that the East end of the Ocean Ave. Dock would fall in if not repaired. He was ordered to repair samo and use live oak posts cut off from soron street right of way if possible, otherwise to procure them elsewhere. ORDINANCES. Ordinance No. 117 entitled "AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND INTOXICATING BEVERAGES BET'NEEN CERTAIN HOURS OF THE DAY .AND ON SUJIDAY,EXCEPTING FROM THE PROVISIONS HEREOF THE SALE OF BEER AND WINE DURING CERTAIN HOURS ON SUNDAY, IN THE TOVrn OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PRE~ SCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF." was read in Full. Councilman Stalnaker moved that Ordinance No. 117 be passed upon first read- ing, ecco~ded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED. Councilnk~~ Stalnaker moved thatthe requirement of rending Ordinance No. 117 on second reading be waived and that said Ordinance be placed upon final passage, Seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared unanimously Carried. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Stalnaker, seconded by Councilman Southard, that Ordinance No. 117 be passed and adopted and a roll call vote being taken resulted as follows; Mayor Councilman. Councilman Stalnaker moved that the Attorney draw up Quit Claim deeds to those owners of abunting properties on the alleys,vacated by the Town of Edgewater, who want that portion of the alley abutting their property, that._the: Mg.yo.r':and~_ the: Clerk arc authorized to sign such deeds; seconded by Councilm~n Southard and by Vote declared CARRIED . . . The Clerk reported that he had not receivcd answers to letters written G.D.Brinkerhoff, VI.A.Boone and A.B,.Wilkinson. NEW BUSINESS. The Clerk reported that he had given a list of the properties owned by the Town to I.Walter Hawkins, Clerk of the Circuit Court in reponse to a letter of July 20th, 1943 addressed to Hon. J.U.Gillespie, Attorney aj Law and in Compliance with Chapter 22079, Laws of 1943. Councilman Stalnaker moved that the List and correspondance be made a part of these minutes, seconded by Councilman Southard and by Vote declared CARRIED. The Clerk reported a Suggested Tentative Budget for the fiscal Year begin- ing 6ctober 1st, 1943 aM ending September 30th, 1944. The Budget was "" discussed and studied. Councilman Stalnaker moved that the Tentative Budget be approved,be adopted be made a part of these minutes and be post~l in accordance with the Law, seconded by Counci~~n Southard and vy vote declared unanDnously CARRIED. It was called to the attention of Council that a scoop shovel suitable for road work could be bought very reasonable. Councilman Stalnaker was appoint cd o.committee of one to look it over as the Road Supervisor having seen it advised that it needed some repairs. It was also called to Council's attention that the U.S.O Recreation Center in New Smyrna Beach would appreciate any donation of Recreation equipment that the Town might donate. The Mayor was to look over the equipment. Councilman Stalnaker moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED, Time 9:00 P.M.
