The minutes of the meeting of August 3rd, 1943 were read, whereup~n Councilman 8talnuker moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Counciblli~n Southard and by vote declared CARRIED. BILLS JL~ ACCOUNTS. The following bills were read: Clerks Miss. Cash. T.N.Strntton. Salaries for August. O.E.Southard. George L.Bailey. Henry Stalnaker. ,falter C .Fuller. Harry A.Moore David A. Thomas. J.W.Owens. The ~~yor reported t1u~t the following articles had been given the U.S.O. for their use: 1 Foot Ball, 1 Volley Ball and Volley Ball Net, 1 Hand Ball, 1 Bat, and 4 Box1ng Gloves. Mr. Moore and Mr. Thomas filed work reports for the period August 1st to 15th. The Marshall reported that his attention had been called to a fire hazard on the cast end of lot 4, Sheppard and Sanchez Grant. Council approved the purchase of one black jack for the Deputy Marshall. Mr. Moore reported that the Town Dock had been repaired. Ulfi1INISHED BUSINESS. Counciblli~n Stalnaker reported that the Scoop Shovel offered to Council was not usable. Council ordered the Clerk to write to George ilebster, E.J.Harold, Ruby L. Lewis, J.J.Heil about the cleaning of their lots located on Park Ave. Also to write again to G.D.Brinkerhoff about the cleaning of his property on the High- way. GIVInG THE USUAL TEN DAYS NOTICE TO CLEAN. NEVI BUSIlfESS. Mr. Carl ArUcer appeared before Council protesting the bill for Fighting Fire on his property. After a discussion the Council ordered the Bill cancelled. It was moved by Councilman Southard, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker, that the :Marshall be instructed to he present at all fires, where he has'..-recei ved notice from property owner of their intention to burn and that the Marshall instruct parties in each case not to start such fire unless or until he arrives at the place where the fire is to be started: by vote the motion was declared CARRIED. lI~loo .... - ... .... u v 0 o u ~ Minutes of August 17, 1943. Page 2. NEW BUSINESS, Continued. The Council ordered the Clerk to turn over to ~~s. H.L.Haughton the key for the Game Closet so that the games could be used when the Library wns open.
