READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the .meeting of November 16th, 1943 were read, where upon
Councilman Southard moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Council-
man Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.

Councilman Bailey moved that these bills be approved, be paid and be made a
part of these minutes, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared
CARRIED .
OFFICERS REPORTS.
The Mayor reported that there was needed a method of pro~edure in request-
ing the New Smyrna Beach Fire Departmen1to send their apparatus to Edgewater.
After a discussion it was decided thatthe ~ew Smyrna Beach Fire Department be
requested to answer calls from Edgewater where it was a house fire but mther-
wnse not to send their apparatus unless the Mayor, Clerk or Marshall requested
it.
The Clerk read a list of the lights( Street) turmed on as of December Lst.
Councilman Bailey moved that this list be made a part of these minutes,
seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Clerks reports of Finances for the month of November were read, wherempon
Councilman Bailey moved that they be made a part of these minutes, seconded
by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Clerk reported that a deed had been delivered to Annie L.Roberts for Lot
1 Excl. U.75' of S.110' of Edgewater Highlands Sub.
The Clerk reported Contracts to purchase had been made for the following
people and properties:
James F.Godward, Lots 6 and 7, Block D, Sec.l., Highland Shores Sub. $42.50
James H.Godward, Lots 15,16,17,18 and 19, Block C., Sec.l, Highland Shores
Sub. Consideration $125.00
Harold Stoutenburgh, Lot 3, Block C, Saction 2, Highland Shores Sub, conside~a
eration $80.00
Councilman Southard moved that these prices be approved, seco~ded by Council-
man Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.

The Clerk reporte~ the receipt of the Marshall's Bond in the sum of '1000.00
with the American Fire and Casualty Co., Bond No.S 1283.
Mr. ~oore filed work reports from Nov.lst to 30th Inclusive and Mr. Thomas
filed for the periOd Nov. 15th to 30th Inclusive.
Mr. Thomas reported that the condition of lots 6 and 10, D.Forsterp Roplat
was a fire hazard and the Council ordered the Clerk to write the Owners.
Mr. MOore was ordered to fix the Ocean Ave. Dock hiring such labor as was
required to help him and also to procure the necessary materials.
COMMUNICATIONS.
The resignation of Mr. A.B.Wilkinson,as,a member of the Board of Adjustment,
dated December 9th, 1943 was read.
Councilman Southard moved that the resignation be accepted and that Mr.
Wilkinson be advised of the appreciation of Council for the service he has
rendered, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED.
A petition Dated December 1st, 1943 requesting a street light on Ridgwwood
Ave. half way between Lamont and Evergreen Streets and signed by four prop-
erty own~s was read in full.
Councilman Southard moved that a light be authorized at this point and install
cd as soon as possible, the clerk to notify the City of New Smyrna Beach,
seconded by Councilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS.
The Clerk and Mr. Moore were instructed to find out the cost of painting the
Town Truck and report at the next meeting.
A letter from ~m. Hill, Director of Outdoor AdvertiSing, State Road Depart-
ment, dated December 10th, 1943 was read in full. This was in relation to
the removal of Tovm of Edgewater Sign on the West side of the Highway near the
Canal. He advised that he had no jurisdiction where signs were within the
Town Limits.
NEW BUSINESS.
Aletter dated December l3th,1943 signed by T.C.Brown making an offer on 16
lots was read in full.
At this time Counci~~ Bailey was excused.
Councilman Stalnaker moved that Mr. T.C .Brown' s offer of' $563.00, payable
$140.75 Cash, $140.75 in 4 ,8 and 12 Months, for the lots described as
Lots 23. 24, 25 and 31, Block B, Lots 23 to 31 Incl., Block E, all in Sec.
One, and Lots 4, 5 and 9, Block B, Section Two, Highland Shores Sub. be
accepted with the provision that the land between Lot 31, Block E, and Lot
31 Block B, Section One may be fenced in but that a right of way will be
provided whenra.quested, for the 50 foot wide strip known as an extension of
Highland Ave. , seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
Counci~n Stalnaker moved that Mr. Carl Anker be appointed to fill the un-
expired tenn of Mr. A.B.Wilkinson on the Board of Adjustment, seconded by
Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARBlED.
Mr. Moore was instructed to clean off Pine Bluff' Street West of the Highway.
Councilman Stalnaker moved that the petition of SHirley W.Book for Homes-
tead Exemption for the year 1943 be granted, seconded by Councilman Southard
and by vote declared CARRIED.
