READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the meeting of January 10th, 1944 were read, whereupon Cpun-
ci~~n Bailey moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman
Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
BILLS AND ACCOUNTS.
The following bills were rend;

Clerks Miss Cash. 14.25
J.S.Bates. 2.64

Councilman Bailey moved that these blills be approved,be paid, and be made n
part of these minutes, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared
CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORTS.
The Clerk read a Finanicial Report on the condition of the Special Fore610s~
Property Fund as of December 31st, 1943.
Councilman Bailey moved that this report be made a part of these minutes,
seconded by Counci~~n Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
Mr. Moore and Mr. Thomas filed reports for Jan.lst to 16th inclusive.
Mr. Moore was ordered to dump a load of shell sand at Belle Smith(s Proper~y
on Woodley Street.
It was decided to fill in on the shore of the Town Lot so that the fishermen
would have a good place to pull up their boats.
The ditch on Wildwood Ave. was to be bridged and Councilmen Southard and Sta.
naker were to obtain prices on Lumber for this bridge.
It was decided to laeve five Pine Trees stand on .iildwood Ave. and not to
sell them.
COMMUNI CATIONS.
A letter from W.P.tliilkinson, without date, requesting Troc Exemption for lots
owned by the V.I.A. was read in full. .
The Council decided that no exemption could be granted as the lots mentioned
on the Tax Statement enclosed were not now a part of the Cementary.
The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Wilkinson, Treasurer of the V.I.A.
A letter dated Jan.7th, 1944 was laid over until the meeting of February 9th,
1944 pending a confirmation of the ~a19 ofvthe property complained as a
fire hazard.
NEW BUSINESS.
The Clerk was instructed to write the State Road Department and request th~
they remove a dead tree at the corner of Lamont Street and the Highway.
Councillk~ Stalnaker moved that the price of $200.00 for lots 1 and 2, Bl.B
Yelcka Terr. Sub. offered by Edna R.Southard be accepted, and that the ~~yor
and Clerk be and they are hereby authorized to sign a Contract to purchase
with a do~n payment of $50.QO the balance in ten equal monthly payments of
$15.00 each, seconded by Counci~~n Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.

T.C.Brown was promised smme lumber to build a bridge to have access to' his
property"West 135t of Lot 39A, Ass!~s Sub. of G.Alvarez Grant." The Bridge
formerly there was used by the Town during a period of high water.
Councilman Stalnaker moved that the price of Lot 13, Block C, Sec. 1, R.S.
Sub. be fixed at $20.00, seconded by Councilman Bailey and 'by vote declared
CARRIED.
Councilman Southard moved that the sum of $1500.00 be put in a Certifiaate
of Deposit with the Bank of New Smyrna, as a part of the Special Foreclosed
Property Fund, as a guarantee fund of the Town's Title to lots acquired
under the Foreclosure proceedings of 1939, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker
and by vote declared CARRIED.
Counci~~ Stalnllicer moved that the Officers of the Town be authorized to
place clause in deeds to protect the purchasers of properties in the future
against the claims of W.J.Bigelow and Edith M.Bigelow and their assignees,
baaed on Tax Certificates and Receipts owned by them prior to the date of
the Townts Foreulosure Suit, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote
declared CARRIED.
Councilman Stalnaker moved that the offer of $50.00 for Lot 8, Block D, Sec.
2, Highland Shores Sub. be accepted, seconded by CounciDTh~n Southard and by
vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman tiouthard moved that W~ do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED. Time. 9:12 P.M.
