READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the meetings of January 6th and 12th were read whereupon
Councilman Southard moved that they be approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.

Councilman Southard moved that these bills be approved, paid and be made
a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Bailey and by vote declared
CARRIED. .
REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
The Clerk reported the price F.O.B. Edgewater, received for two traffic
light signals.
Councilman Southard moved that the Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to
purchase from W.S.Darley and Company of Chicago, Ill., two Flashing Signals
with red and amber lenses at their price of $84,70 F.O.B. Edgewater, and
that one be installed at Hamilton Road and Ridgewood Ave. and the other at
the intersection of Ridgewood Ave. with New Hampshire Ave" both these lights
to take the place of present street lights, seconded by Councilman Bailey
and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Marshall reported that he had moved what trash he could from the L.R.
Turner property and he was authorized to procure help for the removal of
the balance.
He reported that he needed some material and help for the work ordered on
the Ocean Ave. Dock and he was authorized to procure material and hire help.
The investigation ordered on an application for a permit to keep hogs had
not been completed.
COMMUNICATIONS.
A letter dated January 19th, 1942 was read. This was signed by George W.
~infree, Chairman Defense Council, Fifth Commissioner's District. This
letter was addressed to Floyd Renwick and he being present explained that
he had wanted to resign from the Civilian Defense Council as Edgewater
representative after his term as Mayor of Edge~ater had expired, but that
l.myor Stalnaker had so much to do that. it was thought best for him to con-
tinue to serve as the representative from Edgewater.
Councilman Bailey moved thatr the letter be made a part of these minutes and
copies be posted on the bulletin Boards, seconded by Councilman Southard
and by vote declared CARRmED. -

AND RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES, CREATING A BOARD OF .ADJUSTMENT, DEFI1'1:NG ITS
POWERS AND AUTHORITY , PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF THE ORDINANCE .A1I""D

Councilman Bailey moved that Ordinance No. 104 be passed upon first reading,
seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote dealared CARRIED.

age, sceonded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED.

this motion resulted as follows:

Councilman Bailey moved that Ordinance No. 105 be passed upon first reading,
seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Bailey moved that the requirement of reading Ordinance No. 105 on
second reading be waived and that said Ordinance be placed upon final passage,
seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED.
\Vhereupon it was moved by Councilman Bailey, seconded by Cou~cilman Southard,
that Ordinance No. 105 be passed and adopted and a roll call vote upon this
motion resulted as follows:

UNFINISHED BUSIHESS.
Councilman Southard moved that the Mayor and the Clerk be and they are hereby
authorized to sign a contract to purchase with George E.Lear for Lots 16,17
and 18 exclusive the East 10', Block A, Section 'fhree, Highland Shores Sub.
for the sum of Two Hundred and Twenty-five DOllars($225.00) payable $50.00
down and the balance within twelve months, and that they are also authorized
to deed to Horace King the East 10' of Lots 16,17 and 18, Block A, Section
!hree, Highland Shores Sub. in exchange ~or a deed to the East 10' of Lots
19,20,21 and 22., Block A, Section three, Highland Shores Sub., both of these l
ten(lO'O)foot strips to be free of any leins or taxes including the 1941 taxes
seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote dedlared unanimously CARRIED.
NEW BUS nmss .
Mrs. Dora Christenson presented to Council a petition signed by fourteen
persons to open Palmetto Street to Knapp Avenue. Members of Council had view-
ed the street and surrounding properties and it was brought out that the cost
would be prohibi ti.':ve. Town Attorney Gillespie advised Council that there was ..
no duty on part of Council to condem..Jadj oining property to open Palmetto
street to Knapp Ave. whereupon it wa~ moved by Councilman Bailey, seconded by
Councilman Southard, that this petition be tabled. By vote the motion wasuc
declared CARRIED.
The Marshall was ordered to repaint the SLOW signs on Ridgewood Ave.
Councilman Bailey moved what we adjourn, Seconded by Councilman Southard and
by vote declared CARRIED. Time 9:51 P.M.
