The minutes of the meeting of June l6th, 1942 were read whereupon Council- mnn Southard moved that they be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED. Motor.Co. 3.00 J.S.Bates, Fire Chief. 7.00 John R.Vlood. 3.50 Councilman Southard moved that these bills be approved, paid as read and be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote de- c lared CARlUED. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. The Clerk read his finanical report for the month of June and a report or ~stimate of Revenue other than from Laxes levied for the fiscal Year begin- ing October lst,l942 and ending September 30th, 1943. Councilman Southard moved that these reports be accepted and be made a part of these minutes, sOOonded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared <.;.ARRIED . The Clerk further reported the receipt of a letter from the Division Engineer Fifth Div. advising the minimum distance from the edge of the pavement that a Dimout sign could be placed, i.e. not less than 7 feet. Letter dated June 19th, 1942. Also that Uhas. ]'.McCormick had completed his payments on a contract to pur- chase and that a deed for Lots 6 and 7, Block B,Section Two, Highland Shores Sub. would be delivered to him together with an abstract as called for in the contract. Also that James H.Godward had completed his payments on a contract to purchase Lot lO, Hlock D, Section one, highland Shores Sub. and that a deed would be delivered to him. ~he Marshalls report of streets patrOlled on July 3rd to July 6th inclusive was read by the <.;lerk. Report made by J.S.Bates. It is here recorded that Mr. Horace King resigned as Marshall on July 2nd,1942 and that Mayor Henry Stalnaker appointed J.S.Bates on July 3rd,l942 to serve as fown lJarshall. COMMUNI CATIONS. The Clerk read a letter from J.S.Bates in reference to the position of Marshall Aletter dated July 7th, 1942,wasread by the <.;lerk, \1hic11 letter was an appli- cation from Mr. Harry A.MOore for the position of Street fl~intance. 'rhe Clerk was instructed to write the Board of Adjustment that their list of suggestions filed with uouncil would be taken care of as soon as the Street Maintance Work could" be worked out. Councilman Stalnaker moved that Ray S.Blinn Agent, be given the Fire Insurance on the Town Garage and ~ontents \vhich amount be set at ~350 .00, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared uARRIED. NEW BUSINESS. Mr. R.C.Huettich suggested that safety posts be placed at the Lutz Ditch on Riverside Drive so that warning would be given of the safe width of roaQ at that point. ~e street department will do the necessary work. Councilman Southard moved that J.S.Bates be appointed as Town Marshall at a salary of ~40.00 per month effective July 3rd, 1942 with an allowance of not to exceed $12.00 per month for expense of Machine and 'telephone and that Harry A.Moore be appointed Street .Ma.intaince Man at a salary of $60.00 per month starting July 8th, 1942 working 8 Hours per day for six days a week, seconded by uouneilman Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED. ~ounci1man Stalnaker moved tb.n.t the following men constitute the l!'ire Departr-" ment; J.S.J3ates, Fire ~hie:f, harry A.Moore, Assitant }j'ire Ghief, Call men, Paul Brewer, Ira Gra.mb.a.114, Gus S-w.iney, George E.Webster, H.P.1rilkinson, Ray Ballantyne, Hillie Palmer, David '1'hoIllas, Eugene Swiney, Richard Smith, uurtis Giddens, Jolly Lofton, Seconded by ~ouncilman Southard and by vote declared uARRIED. Councilman Southard moved that the Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to .~_u cancel fown of Edgewater fax Sale uertificate No. 154 .of thD Sale of July 2nd, 1934 on the following described property: N.80' of Lot 4-Qand all of lot 4-R and N.30' of Lot 4-8, Ass'rs Sub. of G.Alvarez Grant, Sec.52,fwp.17 S, R.34 E.. as this property is now owned by the Town of Edgewater, seconded by Councilman Stalnaker and by vote declared unanimously CARRIED. The c~eaning of lots adjacent to F.R.Renwick, Elwin Merrill and Volbedding residences was refered to the Marshall and to Mr. Moore. The Bridge over the Ditch on Ocean Ave, was reported by A.H.Wclls to be in bad condition. Mr. Moore was ordered to repair same.
