READING OF MINUTES.
The minutes of the meeting of August 18th, 1942 were read whereupon Council-
man Bailey moved they be approved as read, seconded by CounciDnan Southard
and by vote declared CARlUED.

OFFIUERS REPORTS.
The Clerk read his finanical report for the month of August.
Councilman Bailey moved that it be made a part of these minutes, seconded by
Councilman douthard and by vote declared CARRIED.
The Clerk reported that he had received the consent of' 54..dlwners of property
abutting 1t~b:~~R;?rive" to the vacating of said Garage Drive.
Councilma~ovea that the signed consent of these property owners to the
vacation of Garage Drive be lnade a part of these minutes, seconded by Council-
man Stalnaker and by vote declared CARRIED. CounciL~n Southard not voting.
The Notice of intention to vacate Garage Drive and the names of property
owners on whom it was served forms a part of the minutes of the meeting of
August 18th, 1942.
The Clerk reported that George E.Lear had completed his payments on his con-
tract to purchase Lots 16,17 and 18 Exclusive of the East 10 Feet thereof,
Block A, Sec. 3, Highland 3hores Sub. and that. deeds had beenmade~~ to
George E. and Ethel E.Lear for Lot 16 exc.E.IOt, to Leo J. and LorcttQ G.
Volkmar for lot 17 Exc.E.IOt and to August F. and Louise M.Anmn tor lot 18 Ex~

The MarshalL filed a report for Augusy 15th to 31st and a special feport for .
Augsut 17th to 29th.
~r. Moore filed a time report for the period Aug.17th to 31st.
The Marshall reported a fire hazard on Lot 12,Block 1, dnider dpencer dub. and
the Clerk was instructed to write the O\~er.
Counci~~n clouthard thanked Council,on behalf of the COlnmittee for the Collect-
ion of iron scrap, for the use of the To\Vl1 Truck.

REPORT OF SPECIAL COlfifiTTEE.
Councilman Southard reported that lI.R.Brewer and Richard Smith had given up
the cleaning of lots as awarded the~at the meeting of August 18th, 1942 on
account of siclcness.
Councilman Southard moved that the motion passed at the meeting of August 18th
,1942 awarding the cleaning of 23 lots to H.R.Brewer and Richard Smith at their
bid of $80.00 be rescinded and that the cleaning of these lots be awarded to
.falter and Ralph Giddens at their bid of $4.00 per lot of a size of 50' x 150' ,
seconded by Councilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.

The Clerk read a letter from Go~don M.Dickinson dated August 31, 1942 in
referenceto the annual. audit and making a proposal for doing the \Jork. The
Attorney was asked to investigate.
NEW B USINKSS .
Councilman Bailey moved that the Council offer a reward of $25.00 to anyone
furnishing evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of persons breaking
and entering, stealing tires or committing larceny on property within the
Town Limits and t~t a reward of $10.00 is offered to anyone furnishing
evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of persons decfacing or destroy-
ing Town Property, seconded by Councilman Southard and by vote declared
CARRIED.
It was reported that J.J.Sherwood and J.ll.Stoutenburg living on the North side
of l\few Hampshire Ave. had requested of Council that the South side of Uew
Hampshire Ave. be cleaned of the brush.
Council requested 1~. Moore to do this cleaning.
After a canvas of the Regis,tra,ti(:m~_ Book Councilman Southard moved that 41
names as listed be stricken from the Registration Book and. that these names
be posted in four public places, one of which shall be at the Front Door of
the V.I.A. Hall, seconded by Councilman Bailey and by vote declared CARRIED.
A copy of the list of 41 names is attached and forms a part of these minutes.
CounciLman St"lnakClZr moved that the Clerk issue a permit to George L.Bailey
to keep two hives of bees on his property, seconded by CounciL~n Southard~
and by vote declared CARRIED.
Councilman Southard moved that we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Bailey and by vote declared C~~IED. Time 9:58 P.M.
