Minutes of the May 24th and 31st meeting were approved on a
motion by David Wiggins and seconded by James Mackie.
A discussion of the mini-warehouse on Old County Road ensued.
Councilman Deitz announced the Supreme Court has over-ruled
present laws and people may keep boats, trailers, vacation vans
etc. on their property if properly licensed. The members of the
Council present received the Zoning Boards recommended list of
rules regulating mini-shops and warehouses which Mr. Taylor had
previously given to the City Attorney in anser to his request
for a definition.
Ordinance 926 allows Mr. Earl Wallace to carry out his building
project on W. Park Avenue for a beauty salon, living quarters
and office space, however he requested the Zoning Board's approval
of Par II which is for a nursery school with extended 24 hour care.
Mr. Mackie asked for the vote and the second was made by Mr. David
Wiggins. The vote was 3 yes and 1 no with Mrs. Turner as the
dessenting vote. She previously explained a nursery did not
belong in an industrial area, surrounded by a gun shop, railroad
track, and a paint factory which had recently burned.
A memo on the recommendations will be sent to the Council.
Mrs. Doris Massey requested re-zoning her land west of town
from trailer parks to industrial on Lots 37 and 42. Other land
in the area is already zoned industrial. Mr. James Mackie moved
the date be set for a public hearing. David Wiggins seconded the
motion. Vote was 4-0 to approve.
After much discussion on the depth if Mr. James Cameron's lots
at 1700 Riverside Dr. the Zoning Board voted to approve Mr.
Cameron's request to build six houses on two lots. The vote
was 3-1 with Mrs. Turner casting the dissenting vote. Memo
will go the the Council in this regard.
It was announced by the Chairman our next meeting will be held
on June 23rd, a Thursday night.
James Mackie moved we adjourn. Seconded by David Wiggins vote
4-0
