Mr. Wolfe stated that we have three guests: Councilwoman Ryta Webber,
Mrs. Mackie and Mrs. Straub.
Mr. Wolfe stated that this is a special meeting to set up the agenda for
the meeting with the Council February 17th.
Mr. WOlfe began reading over a list of items which Mr. Mackie typed up to
discuss with the Council.
Item #6 was discussed in detail, in regard to building on already plotted
lots in residential areas. The members expressed their feelings that it
is unfair to cause people to go to the Board of Adjustments and pay $50.00
to be allowed to build on their lot when they can not get any more land
than they already have.
Mr. Mackie explained that we are trying to relieve some of the people who
owned previous to Ordinance 880 from any hardship that we caused by passing
the Ordinance.
Mr. Wolfe explained that there are a lot of lots which are involved, and
this should be taken care of by an amendment to the Ordinance rather than
each individual having to go for a variance.
Under Item #7 the board members began discussing the responsibilities of
the Building Official as is planned to be hired by the City.
Mr. Mackie stated that if this man is going to be an official to have a certain
group of inspectors, and he is going to use these same men each time for an
inspection, this is fine, however if he is going to be allowed to pick any man
at random each time for an inspection, then we will be in worse trouble than
we were before.
Mr. Taylor suggested that Mr. Mackie discuss this with the Council before they
adopt anything.
Councilwoman Webber stated that she feels the Zoning Board members should attend
the Council meeting and voice their opinions.
Mr. Mackie explained that he will not be able to attend the meeting since he
is going to the hospital.
Mr. Taylor asked if it would be all right if he attends the meeting and voices
Mr. Mackie's suggestion.
Mr. Mackie stated that this was perfectly all right with him.
