Mr. Brittingham made a motion to accept the minutes as typed,
being seconded by Mr. Wiggings. Said motion CARRIED.
Mr. Mackie stated that Mr. Blanken was presented to the City
. iCouncil, and he was to be referred back to the Zoning Board.
~ He also stated that the record should show that Councilwoman
Webber is attending the meeting and Mrs. Straub, and Mr. Taylor
~are also attending this meeting.
~
Chairman Wolfe asked Mrs. Webber the reason for Mr. Blanken
~ being sent back to the Zoning Board?
~Mrs. Webber stated that the Council felt that they needed
\ ~ further clarification. She stated that Mr. Armstrong has
~asked members of the Counci 1 to go out with Mr. Blanken and
~look over the lot, because it was suggested from the audience
~that he should go to the Board of Adjustments for a variance,
~and the Council was not sure that a variance was called for.
~
~Mr. Brittingham explained that we had suggested that the resi-
~lden:e in about two blocks in that area come and request a re-
~ zon~ng.
.. ~~Mr. Mackie stated that the Zoning Board has requested through
~ f~the City Hall that if they receive more than one complaint
~.;: Q,., about a specific item of the Ordinance, that a memorandum
X : ~ ~ would be sent to the Zoning Board, and we could try to straighten
'x I) !; out the Ordinance to work for the best of the City. He stated.
~~ ~ ~~ that the board has only received one memorandum in a whole year.
~ ~ ~ He also stated that another thing he wants on record is that
ti ~~ this Ordinance was not only developed purposely for Silver Ridge
~\~ ~nlY.
Mr. Brittingham stated that the only thing that was passed
independently that night was for Gene Harris, and Silver Ridge
was mentioned just prior to that, and then dropped, which we
wanted done.
There was discussion on various types of zoning in Edgewater
with the people present.
Mrs. Straub spoke to the board about Mrs. McMillian on Indian
River Boulevard wanting to build a garage on her property, and
she is having trouble with the setbacks and also a fence next
to her property line. If she builds the garage, Florida Power
and Light will not be able to get to the light pole, because
of the fence.
The board members looked at the map of Florida Shores and
discussed this with Mrs. Straub.
Q
o
The setback requirements were read to Mrs. Straub.
There was more discussion on various zoning regulations in
theCity.
There was discussion about building permits, and the Ordinances
being enforced properly.
Mr. Mackie stated that he has spoke with Mr. Critz of the Health
Department in regard to the fruit stands that we have on the
highway. He found that they have to have a permit, and a health
card. The other restrictions are that they must have restrooms
or they can get signed statements from the business, or public
place or whatever that they have the privilege of the use of
their restrooms. He said that he didn't get a chance to talk
to Mr. Critz very much, so he will go back again and bring the
board up to date at the next meeting.
Mr. Taylor questioned if flea markets are allowed in Edgewater.
Mr. Brittingham explained that there is nothing in the Ordinance
which allows it or disallows it.
There was much discussion in regard to the enforcing of the
Zoning laws, who is responsible for it and how is it being done.
Mr. Wolfe stated that he feels that if we had a building inspec-
tor, who was also in charge of the Zoning laws, this would work
out very well.
Mr. Mackie made a motion to adjourn the meeting, being seconded
by Mr. Brittingham. Said motion CARRIED.
Meeting adjourned.
