CITY OF EDGEWATER
BOARD OF GOVERNORS
REGULAR MEETING
December 9, 1981
'Chairman Wolfe called the regular meeting of the Board of Governors
to order at 7:35PM in the Edgewater Community Center.
ROLL CALL
Members present: Chainman Wolfe, Mr. Gross, Mr. Hardock, Mr. King.
Mr. McEver and Mr. Nerber were Excused.
Also present: Mike Avery, new Board Secretary Cecelia Moore.
Mr. Gross moved to accept the minutes of the October 14, 1981 regular
meeting, seconded by Mr. King. Motion CARRIED 4-0.
COMMUNICATIONS
The letters from the City Manager regarding the Board by-laws, and
the field improvements/recreation manager, were discussed. The de-
cision about the recreation manager position and the by-laws were
tabled. The Council approved money for the improvements to the soccer
and football field.
Mike Avery reported on the progress of the field. The new fields have
been planted with sod, and the new wells are being put in to provide
water. .The old baseball field is done and the new field is waiting
for the Fire Dept to burn. Mr. Hardock showed the blueprints for the
new concession stand which will be built between the old and new
baseball field. The Board decided to send a memo to the City Manager
to request that the Council approved the funds to start building
the concession stand.
There was a discussion about the committee which the Council might
appoint to study future recreational needs of thel :~ity. Mr. Gross
moved to send a letter to the Council and the Zoning and Planning
Board, offering the services of a member of the Board of Govern0rs
to work on the committee, seconded by Mr. Hardock. Motion CARRIED 4-0.
There was a discussion about the Garden Club using the Community Center
without paying a fee. It was noted that the Council had approved that
previously. The Board dedided to ask the City Manager why this matter
had not been brought to the Board bf Governors fir~t.
Mr. King~~brough up a problem which has started to occur at the public
boat ramps. People are tying up their boats in the ramp and leaving
them unattended for long periods of time. After some discussion, Mr.
King moved to recommend to the City Manager that the Public Works Dept.
put up signs which could be read from both-water and land, stating
that tie-ups in the ramp could not be longer than 10 Cor 15) minutes,
seconded by Mr. Gross. Motion CARRIED 4-0.
Mr. Hardock moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Mr. King. The
meeting was adjourned.
