Q ~ITY OF EDGEWATER BOARD OF GOVERNORS fu REGUALR MEETING December 11, 1980 Chairman Wolfe called the regular meeting of the Board of Governors to order at 7:30 pm in the Edgewater City Hall. ROLL CALL Mr. Wolfe Mr. Hardock Mr. Nerber Mr. Dean Mr. McEver Mr. Gross Present Present Present Present Present Present Mr. Kruse Resigned Mr. Hardock made a motion that the minutes from the Special Meeting, dated August 28, 1980 be accepted. Mr. Nerber seconded the motion. Motion CARRIED 5-0. (Mr. Dean did not vote, arrived late to meeting.) Chairman Wolfe suggested that the Board either join SEVAA or see if Edgewater could set up their own Charter. The secretary was asked to send a memo to the City Attorney and Chief of Police requesting informa- tion about becoming a Charter Association. Chairman Wolfe said that he would like to know what the people of Edgewater wanted in the form of recreational facilities. Mr. Wolfe said that he would send out forms to the schools to request from the children and the parents, what kind of activity would they like in this area. Also that he needed support from the parents to get this program going for their children. Mr. Gross said that he thought that a Bicycle Motocross would be nice for the neighborhood as his grandchild was very active in this sport and he thought that many would show up for this sport. The Mayor had mentioned that there was land available that had been donated fot recreational purpose. Mr. Dean suggested that with the new baseball field more people should know about it. The newspapers in the area should be asked to come out and take pictures of the field and maybe write an arti~le about the field. Mr. MeEver said that he was still doing some follow up work on the running race. Also he was involved in setting up the Racquet Ball Tournament that would be the first part of the New Year. Discussion on ~embership cards for using the Racquet Ball Court and the Tennis Courts. Should it be just for Edgewater residents or open to all. Discussion on the condition of the Racquet Ball Court. Mr. Wolfe asked t~at a memo be sent to Al Blazi requesting that the pole in the Court area be padded and that spikes cut off or taken out. Mr. Gross asked if there were any by laws for the Board of Governors, if so could he have a copy. Mr. Wolfe asked that the secretary please find out if there were by laws for the Board if so please have a copy ready for Mr. Gross and the" other members of the Board. Discussion on the Concerts that could be held for money making projects for city recreational facilities and or equipment. Mr. McEver said that he had talked to a couple of bands and that they were willing to do a concert in this area. Mr. Dean made a motion that a letter be sent to the Council requesting that the name of the Parks and Recreation Department be changed to Parks and Maintenance, as the Parks Department was not in charge of the Recreational Activities by the maintenance of the buildings and the grounds.
