Board of Governors and Recreation
July 12, 1979
Regular Meeting
Chairman Travis called the regular meeting of the Edgewater Board
of Governors and Recreation to order on July 12, 1979 in the
Mayor's Office.

Chairman Travis read the minutes of the last meeting dated June 20,
1979.
These minutes were approved as read.
Chairman Travis stated that there has not been any correspondence
received to act on.
OLD BUSINESS
The lighting at the shuffleboard courts was discussed at length.
Mr. Wolfe asked the Mayor if there was any information on this.
Mayor Christy stated that there was a book on lighting in the file
and that the board should look it over to get some ideas.
Mr. Hardock suggested that the Shuffleboard members need to let us
know what type of lighting they are looking for.
Mr. Hardock made a motion that a letter be sent to the President
of the Shuffleboard and ask him to appoint some of his members to
do some research on this. After this is done these members should
meet with our board to discuss their findings. Mr. King made the
second. CARRIED.
There was some discussion on the letter that was sent to the Council
on the stage acoustics and the back stop. Chairman Travis asked that
we get a letter back on this from the Council.
Mr. Wolfe asked about the Community Center inventory. There was
some discussion on this it was decided that this inventory would be
don eon the kit c hen.

There was some discussion on the rent on .theCommunity Center. The
board feels that this should be adjusted and the prices on the rent
be updated.
The board discussed the budget for the coming year. This will be
discussed again at the next meeting. Also a copy of the78~79
budget needs to be furnished to us at the next meeting so we can have
something to work with.
A letter giving the City permission to go ahead and start work at
the ball park was discussed. Mr. Hardock made a motion that a letter
go to the Council asking that repairs be done at the ball park.
These repairs include the bathroom, backstop, fence, grass the infield,
bleachers, lights and new water lines going to the ball park. Mr.
King made the second. CARRIED.

Mayor Christy told the board that he will get a copy of the budget
to the board so that they will have somethtng to work with.
There was some discussion on the city parks. The members asked
where these parks were located. Mayor Christy stated that we have
a park ,on North Riverside, there is one located at the end of
Indian River Blvd and Riverside Dr, the one on the end of Park
Ave., there is oneon Lime Tree Drive in Fla. Shores,there is also
one located in Edgewater Acres.
The board su~gested that they take a tour of these parks and look
them over to see what kind of improvements need to be made.
The board decided to take the inventory on the Community Center
kitchen Tuesday.
