Q ~ ~ CITY OF EDGEWATER PARKS AND RECREATION SPECIAL MEETING January 18, 1983 Minutes The Chairman called the special meeting to order at 7:14 p.m. in the Shuffleboard Clubhouse across from City Hall. ROLL CALL Members present: Messrs. Bidau1t, Jones and Wyatt. Excused: Mr. Wolfe. Absent: Mr. Richards. Also present: Mr. Avery, Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, and Mrs. Taylor, Secretary. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Moved by Mr. Jones and seconded by Mr. Bidau1t to approve the January 13, 1983 minutes. The motion CARRIED 3-0. Mr. Wyatt explained that the discussion on forming a corporation would be tabled because Council had not approved the Board's request that the athletic program be assumed by the Parks and Recreation Department. He said that he was planning to write a letter to Council, as Chairman of the Board, expressing how he felt about it. The matter had been tabled by Council by a vote of 5-0. He hoped to get it on the Agenda for Council's Special meeting. Dividing the Parks and Recreation Department into two separate divisions, a Parks and Recreation Division and a Building and Maintenance Division, under Mr. Avery's direction, was recommended. Monies coming in for parks and recreation would go into a separate fund designated for that purpose. Mr. Bidau1t motioned to send a letter to Council recommending that there be a separate Parks and Recreation Division and a Building and Maintenance Division under the Parks and Recreation Department. Mr. Jones seconded the motion which CARRIED 3-0. Mr. Wyatt said he wanted to write a letter to the Governor inviting him to the dedication of the Jimmy Hogan Ballfield, but a date has not been set. Mr. Bidau1t motioned to send a letter to the Governor inviting him to attend the dedication ceremonies at the Jimmy Hogan Park. The motion was seconded by Mr. Jones and CARRIED 3-0. Discussion of the shuffleboard court was delayed, as Council had indicated at their meeting last night that they would take care of it. Mr. Jones asked about the map discussed at the last meeting, which Mr. Spencer agreed to get showing the city owned property and locations of city recreational areas. Mr. Wyatt said the City Clerk will get that information to the Board. The meeting was adjourned at 7:29 p.m. Minutes submitted by Joan Taylor, Secretary
