INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD
WORKSHOP/SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, 1990

Chairman Joe Martin called to order a workshop/special meeting of
the Industrial Development Board to develop a pamphlet on
Industry in the City of Edgewater, at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May
16, 1990, in the conference room at City Hall.

Members present were Mr. McClain, Mr. Ko~h,1 Mr. Martin, Mr.
Baldwin, Mr. Hanson, and Ms. Rymsza. Mr. Richards was excused.
Also present was Beverly Kinney, Secretary.
Mr. Martin informed the members that there were no more matching
grant funds available from the state. He added that the Board
would concentrate on financing the pamphlet at a later date.
There was discussion about the positive and negative things in
pamphlets advertising industry in New Smyrna Beach, Holly Hill,
and DeLand. The members discussed including demographics, (ie:
mileage to various locations, population, climate,
etc.>,photographs (ie: Cushman and Coronado Paint>, a list of the
cities assets in regards to intercoastal access, railway
facilities, ample land adjoining the city, and a detailed map
depicting such things as the Orlando International Airport,
Kennedy Space Center, Daytona Beach and the Daytona International
Speedway, and Disney World. There was also discussion about
providing information about educational facilities and
recreational activities in the area.
Mr. Martin stated that the Volusia County Business Development
Corporation is in the process of gathering funds to place an
advertisement about industry in Volusia County in one of the
September issues of Business Week which will be devoted to
industry.
There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr.
Baldwin moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Hanson. The meeting
adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
