INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD
REGULAR MEETING
THURSDAY, MAY 3, 1990

Chairman Joe Martin called to order a regular meeting of the
Industrial Development Board at 7:10 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 1990,
in the conference room of City Hall.

Mr. McClain moved to approve the minutes of January 4, 1990,
seconded by Mr. Richards. Motion Passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:
Internship Proqram: Mr. Martin stated a letter from the
Department of Commerce had been received informing the Board that
they were not chosen to participate in the program this year.
The members did agree to apply for the program next year.
Booklet on How to Start a Business in Edqewater: The members
discussed reviewed pamphlets printed by New Smyrna Beach, Oak
Hill, and DeLand, and agreed Edgewater's pamphlet should contain
an overview of the city and provide some demogl-aphic information
about the city and surrounding area. There was discussion as to
where the pamphlets could be circulated ie: Volusia County
Business Development Corporation, Chamber of Commel-ce, and real
estate agencies.
The chairman called a recess at 7:20 p.m.. The meeting resumed
at 7: 25 p. m. .

DISCUSSION ITEMS:
There was brief discussion about the eagle's nest located near
the P.I.D. district and what possible impacts it could have
regarding industrial development.
There was discussion regarding Industrial appreciation. Mr.
Richards stated his company had been nominated for an industrial
appreciation award which will be given in September by the
Department of Commerce. The Board discussed the possibility of
recognizing businesses in the city by giving out Industry of the
Month Awards (certificates of appreciation) at Council meetings.
There being no further business, Mr. Richards moved to adjourn,
seconded by Mr. McClain. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m..
