Mr. Richards and Mrs. Baker. Also present was Beverly Kinney,
Board Secretary. Mrs. Middleton was excused.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes of August 6, 1987, were present for approval.
Mr. Racca moved accept the minutes, seconded by Mr. Richards.
Motion Carried 5-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Industrial Appreciation Week: Mr. Hardester and Mr. Andrew talked
to the News Journal and the News and Observer to do article and
photos on September 9, 1987 on Custom Craft, Southern Instruments,
Tarmac, Angell and Phelps and Boston Whaler to be run in the papers
during Industry Appreciation Week.
Mrs. Baker passed around a copy of the certificate of appreciation
to be used. She informed the Board the cost would be $35.00 to
print 200 certificates. (copy attached)
Mrs. Baker informed the Board Southern Instruments and Edgewater
Machine and Fabrication were finalists for the State Industry
Appreciation Award.
Mrs. Baker stated F.E.C. Railway would be receiving an invitation
to the seminar, because of their importance to the area. She also
stated she would be checking into reservations made for the luncheon,
because the Islander needed a count by Friday, September 11, 1987.
It had also been decided to stop the reservations at 75 as the room
would probably not hold more.
Mr. Racca suggested inviting someone from the Department of Commerce.
Mrs. Baker said she would handle it.
Mr. Richards asked about the welcoming committee at the seminar.
Mrs. Baker stated a representative from each City and the Chamber
would be present to greet people at the seminar.
Mrs. Baker had received verbal confirmation from Dave Richmond of
the Volusia County Business Development Corporation as speaker during
the luncheon.
Mrs. Baker informed the Board the Chamber would handle the printing
of a form entitled "Evaluation Of Industry Appreciation Seminar" for
those attending. The Board agreed it would help in future endeavors.

Loan Money Availability: The Board discussed possible loan money
available for the purchase of land for a City operated Industrial
Park. Mr. Richards had spoken to someone (he could not remember
the name) who may be able to speak to the Board about money avial-
able at 5.5%, but the amount of money loaned would have to be a
very large sum. Mrs. Baker suggested Mr. Richards contact the local
representative to speak at the next regular meeting.
The Board also discussed the current property in Edgewater zoned
P.I.D. and the problems of flooding in the area. They also discussed
future land aquisitions either to the south or to the west toward

Interstate 95. Mrs. Baker felt at a later date someone from the
County could be invited to speak to the Board regarding Industrial
Parks, but felt the first thing to do would be finding the land the
City would want to invest in before trying to find the money to finance
such an undertaking.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Vo1usia County Business Development Corporation: The Secretary
informed the Board a video tape regarding development in Volusia
County was available for viewing upon request. After some dis-
cussion the Board asked to view the video at their next regular
meeting.
There being no further business to corne before the Board Mr. Racca
moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Andrew. The meeting was adjourned
at approximate 7:52 P.M.
