OLD BUSINESS:
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT FAIR
Chairman Racca informed the Board that John Robbins is still scheduled to be the
guest speaker at the Industrial Development Fair.
Florence Baker informed the Board the Tarmac Florida, Incorporated had decided to
participate. They will have a display and be on the tour. The 2001 Group, Inter-
national Truss and Fluid Method Generator will not participate this year. Mrs. Baker.
still needed to get in touch with Super Swirl. S.C.O.R.E. and VLF-PIC, Inc. are
interested in a display.
The secretary informed the Board that as of September 4, 1986, there were thirteen
(13) displays and seven (7) tours scheduled for the Industrial Development Fair.
Chairman Racca thought this would be a good time to have a cut off as far as the
tours were concerned. He will make a map of the tour route and the timing. There will
also have to be a time limit on the amount of time spent at each business, so there will
be time enough for one (1) tour in the morning and one (1) tour in the afternoon.
Chairman Racca spoke to the people at Watercraft and it was decided that they would
not have a display, because their boats are too big. They will still be part of the
tour. Coronado Paint will be displaying a truck outside the Community Center along
with a display from Winston Nursery.
Chairman Racca asked Mrs. Baker to double check the bus situation. Mrs. Baker said
there probably won't be a sign on the side of the bus stating the bus is being provided
by the New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater Chamber of Commerce. Chairman Racca told Mrs. Baker
to make sure the bus and driver are at the Community Center no later than 10:00 A.M.,
because the first tour will start at 10:30 A.M.
Chairman Racca informed the Board that Mayor Earl Baugh will give the proclamation.
The mayor's staff will write the proclamation.
The Board was informed by the secretary that Mr. John Robbins will probably be arriving
the Friday evening before the fair.
The Board discussed the plans for New Smyrna Beach's Industrial Development Appreciation
Week. Chairman Racca informed the Board he had been invited to participate in one of
the upcoming events.
Chairman Racca asked the secretary to send a list of the names and addresses of the
current Industrial Development Board members to Pat Elliott c/o City Hall, New Smyrna
Beach, Florida.
Mrs. Middleton informed the Board that everything seems to be running smoothly as far
as the coffee and donuts and reception are concerned for the Fair. Mrs. Middleton said
she will be assisted by Mrs. Baker, Doris Massey, Joan Taylor and Mary Lee Cook. The
committee will have a meeting to finalize their plans during the next week.

Chairman Racca informed the Board that Noland Car Company did not make the list
of finalists for the Industry Appreication Award. According to Clair Ferrara,
Florida Department of Commerce, they do not have an honorable mention award for
the nominees of the Industry Appreication Award. Chairman Racca thought it would
be a good idea to have a plaque made for Noland Car Company for being nominated.
The Board agreed with the idea. Chairman Racca will have a plaque made up and
will contact Noland Car Company to see if they will be involved in the fair or
have a representative to accept the award at the fair.
Mr. Andrew said the dirt roads in bad shape will be cleaned up prior to the fair
for the bus tours. Mr. Andrew will notify Mr. Copeland in Public Works when he
has the route for the tour.
Mr. Andrew infonmed the Board they could purchase posters for about $65.00 to
$75.00 for approximately twenty five (25) to fifty (50) posters. Mr. Andrew
said the sign for out in front of the Community Center will run approximately
$85.00. It will say "Industrial Fair, September 20, 1986." Jim Sumner signs
is preparing the sign and the date can be changed at a small cost from year to
year.
Chairman Racca stated the invitations would be going out to the Banks, Mayor and
Councilmen as soon as the programs were ready, because he wanted a copy of the
program to be attached to the invitations.
Mrs. Middleton said the two hundred fifty (250) programs are being printed and
will be ready by the first of uhe week. They are being printed on green paper.
Mrs. Baker suggested putting twenty five (25) programs in each bank. That was
fine with the Board.
Dave Garrett will be asked to rope off the parking area in front of City Hall for
the truck display from Coronado Paint and the display from Winston Nursery.
Mr. Garrett will also be setting up tables and a microphone in the Community Center
and setting up chairs in the Shuffle Board Room.
Chairman Racca designated Mr. Andrew to be the tour guide for the bus tour.
Mr. Andrew agreed to be tour director.
There being no further business to corne before the Board, Mrs. Middleton made
a motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Mr. Andrew.
Meeting adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
