OLD BUSINESS
Letter from City Clerk/Administrator reo Dale and John Streets
The chairman noted that there is apparently a misunderstanding because the
F.E.C. Industrial Park would not touch any part of Dale Street, which is the
street going into the property which they would like to see opened up.
Mr. Grooms is to the left and the truss plant is to the right and Dr. Morgan
is to the north. If Dale Street could be opened up it would put to use
about 60 acres of industrial land.
Mrs. Massey discussed briefly the private crossing agreement which the F.E.C.
asks be signed.
The members talked about the need for industrial land in the city and the
difficulty they have in finding a site for someone desiring to corne into
the city.
Various methods of approaching the problem were discussed.
Industrial Appreciation Week
Mrs. Massey explained that because of the Sunshine Law the members of the
Board could not go as a group to the various industrial sites, but they could
call at the businesses individually and give a report at the following board
meeting. Mrs. Massey suggested that the members corne to the next board
meeting with their ideas for the Industrial Appreciation Week scheduled for
September.
Torn Sawyer resignation
Mrs. Massey informed the members that due to his heavy work schedule Mr.
Sawyer had asked not to be reappointed to the Board. Mr. Sawyer was the
Vice-Chairman and the members noted that he would be missed.
Election of Vice-Chairman
The Chairman opened the floor for nominations for Vice-Chairman. Mr. Schneider
nominated Mr. John Vazquez. Mr. Vazquez nominated Mr. Foleno. Mrs. Middleton
nominated Mr. Schneider. Mr. Vazquez motioned to close the nominations,
seconded by Mr. Gnau. Upon a secret ballot vote Mr. John Vazquez was elected
Vice-Chairman.
